I ordered my Maverick XL with 2.0 Ecoboost, AWD and 4K Towing on 10/21 from Tomball Ford, near Houston (was told I had to order AWD to get 4K Towing). The only other options I have are the Co-Pilot 360 and sliding rear window (was told I had to order the Co-Pilot 360 to get the window). I had was asked pay a $500 deposit. My order is still "in processing" (not yet scheduled for build/sent to the factory).
Wanted the 4K Towing because I have a vintage car ('62 Ford Ranchero) that I would like to be able to tow to car shows out of state. Would not have chosen AWD because it adds cost and because I suspect it reduces fuel economy. However, I make a few beach/camping trips a year and the AWD may be useful for those. I take my dog with me to local parks and on fast food runs many times a week and wanted the sliding rear window for him. Overall, the low cost, fuel economy and usefulness of the pickup bed and towing are what attracted me to the Maverick. I like Rangers, but I couldn't justify the cost and especially the miserable fuel economy.
Read quite a bit on this site before registering/posting - I understand that the hybrids are delayed, which may result in my 2.0 Ecoboost being built sooner (if hybrids are put on hold due to supply chain/part availability). I also understand that builds are currently scheduled through mid to late December, and that the next build dates will be in January. I think it's quite likely that there are so many orders ahead of me that my build date will not be in January, but February or later, unless the 2.0 Ecoboost/hydrid factor causes mine to move closer to the front of the line.
Are any of the options that I have ordered (AWD, 4K Towing, Co-Pilot 360, sliding rear window) likely to cause additional delays?
I see that the Mavericks are manufactured in Hermosillo, Mexico. Would that make delivery time to Texas less than say, to the pacific northwest or New England?
Thanks
Bob
