12" Transit screen protector looks bad

I recently picked up this screen for the sync / screen upgrade. It appears to have a screen protector installed and looks pretty bad. Does anyone know if this if from the factory and can be removed and replaced? It has some words on it that are barely legible. Before I attempt to remove it I thought I'd see if others may have some experience with it.

Damn. That looks like chemical residue. I've seen it on Laptop screens - caused by dirty fingers or makeup residue.
Not sure if that's on a screen protector that can be removed or if it's f'd up.

Nothing permanent would have writing on it... because it's a screen.

Whatever it is should be removable.

Im thinking nothing with print on was intended to be permanent!

Watched a video of someone taking off the factory screen protector and it had the same wording. Might be a challenge to get off after 3years.
