I just got finished saying that the color is an indication of age and/or use conditions. Look up the columns using the internet. Go to the Blackstone website. Look up wear materials/metals that are produced by transmissions. I feel like im supposed to tell you what they mean. I’ve done much of...
The color does mean something. It’s an indicator albeit possibly a small indicator of the condition that the transmission fluid has experienced. Transmission fluid color is and indicator of the fluid’s age and use. I have a 2023 with less than 6000 miles. I managed to get some universal averages...
I can’t recall the Daniel said the he or Ford discovered the defect that caused his particular transmission malfunction characteristics. I read also that some have an issues where they have to rev the engine up to get the vehicle to move. I could be wrong but that doesn’t feel like a wiring issue.
The point is don’t change them per the vehicle manual intervals. Change the PTU oil as soon as you take delivery of your new vehicle or as soon as you read through this post. Change the trans fluid right after the vehicle break-in period (5000 miles?). And use your thoroughly educated judgement...
The dealership will probably not notice or record the amount of oil drained and/or do a lab test on the oil/investigate if they do find that it was underfilled. You may never know unless you do it yourself.
Good question! Technically and I’m my opinion, the dealer should have caught this during their induction of the vehicle into their inventory. When they do the multipoint vehicle checks (fluids) and verifications before allowing the delivery of the vehicle to the new owners. I heard about the PTU...
True! however, doing a lot of towing and AWDing with your PTU underfilled is pretty much a death sentence to the PTU if it is finally brought from 48% filled to the 100% level at the 1st recommended PTU oil change interval. I hope Ford is listening to me. I can almost guarantee that premature...
The Ford engineers are absolutely trippin! I'll bet you cash that a PTU that is less than 50% filled will fail before 100,000 miles if you have a 4K tow package and you tow most of the time to max capacity like I do. This is why I'm so upset about the PTU issue. And why I changed everything when...
The ECTV fluid is just as critical during break-in as any of the other oil/fluid lubricated components on the Mavericks. Everyone! I would change the ECVT oil as soon as you take delivery if not after the break-in period (5000 miles?).
Interesting! i d
That much of a color diiference at 5600 miles doesnt seem logical. but thats just me. I should have taken a sample to get it tested, but i didnt.
I’m going to speak strongly about this. With myself and others finding their PTU’s under filled, lots of metal debris and the fluid of very bad condition (mine was more than 50% underfilled!). There being no real break-in procedure for the 2.0 EB engine (Ford doesn’t put in break-in oil at the...
