  1. Hybrid alternator

Ford and Toyota use the same CVT hybrid architecture where the gas engine is mated to two digitally commutated (brushless) electric motors via some planetary gears with no clutches or torque converters. One electric motor acts as the starter and assist motor contributing to the forward power...
  2. Low MPG displayed on short trips in Hybrid

I’ve gone through all the menus and don’t recall seeing that option anywhere. Is it a trim specific option?
  3. Some Dash Cam Installation Tips

After reading this and others I went back to check how I routed past the side airbag. My first post crossed over it so I went back and pulled down the A pillar cover and rerouted it to the inside, next to the windshield and behind the airbag.
  4. Some Dash Cam Installation Tips

The only thing I would disagree about in this is that pulling out the door seal first will make the wiring routing immediately obvious. If you want to pull panels and zip tie afterwards it will be easier with the door seal off. You’re also less likely to trap the edge under a plastic panel...
  5. Some Dash Cam Installation Tips

If manufacturers were gonna design for dash cams why not just include them in the car to begin with like Tesla. The Maverick already has a front facing camera in that mirror windscreen assembly. It would only be a matter of storage and software to give customers access to that footage.
  6. Some Dash Cam Installation Tips

I just installed a single forward facing dash cam today and figured I’d share a few notes while it’s fresh in my mind. I tapped into fuse 3. The top pin was 12V live (when the ignition is on). I grounded to the M6 stud just below the fuse. The nut has an integrated washer that makes it hard to...
  7. Canoe rig

Looks great. I’ve been thinking of doing something similar on my next canoe trip. We only canoe a few times a summer and the truck has a trifold tonneau. We’ve got a 17 ft clipper (family trip canoe). I was just going to freehand it with lumber from the scrap pile and tie the front down through...
  8. Bed Cubby extra two bolts

I just used some random M6 screws I had kicking around. I think anything between 12 and 25 mm should work. I also installed the old cover plate behind the driver rear wheel as an extra mud guard. I checked on it recently and it’s doing a good job...
  9. Msrp experience

What was your out the door amount incl tax and how much is tax in Ontario?
  10. Sleeping in the Maverick Cab. Yes, it is doable, but....

It seems like a few inches higher and your horizontal space expands greatly above the dash
  11. Ordering and wait times Vancouver experience

Yeah new vehicle, like 50km on the odo. 12% sales tax was the biggest chunk of that 6k. Interest was 8% over 5 years (shortest loan they offered)
  12. Found a use for left over bed cubby cover plate

They’re stainless Nyloc nuts. I think they should be good but I’ll check on that area next spring and see how everything looks. Everything they touch is plastic anyways, so I doubt you would hear a rattle if they came loose. I think they would just silently fall off and the whole panel would...
  13. Found a use for left over bed cubby cover plate

I’m not worried about carrying around extra road debris. I’m worried about mud getting thrown straight into the tail light.
  14. Ordering and wait times Vancouver experience

Ordered an XL Hybrid from Brown Bros Vancouver in March 2023. I checked in for updates around August and a few days later got a call that there was an XL available same colour. I think the MSRP was $3450 incl trifold tonneau and destination fee. On top of that I had another $6k for...
  15. Found a use for left over bed cubby cover plate

I spent my Ford points on getting two bed cubbies for my XL. Install was easy but I was left with the old cover plates afterwards. Instead of tossing them in the trash I used them to cover up the gaping hole behind the left rear wheel. It doesn’t do a perfect job by any means but it’s better...
  16. Is/will your Maverick be your first truck? Are you new to Ford?

Coming from a 2003 Honda Odyssey. Wanted the utility of a minivan but with better fuel economy and cheaper than a Pacifica.
  17. New owner of XL Hybrid with some random questions

I tried auto-hold in slippery mode and it reduces the starting lurch by about half but it’s still lurches much more than easing off the brake with creep mode.
  18. New owner of XL Hybrid with some random questions

I’ll give that a try on my next drive, but if I have to switch the car into slippery mode every trip I’ll probably just go back to creep mode.
