At the end of the day, the deposit goes to the vehicle as a down payment, right? I completely understand why one would not want to pay anything that is not required, but I see my $1,000 deposit essentially as an early down payment.

I went ahead and made a reservation at the two nearest dealerships to me. One called me back, but the nice lady on the phone did not seem to familiar with the Maverick or the next steps in terms of pre-order. I think I will just see which dealer has better communications over the next few weeks.
I am very uninformed when it comes to hybrids. Why should I not get a hybrid? In other words, why is a hybrid not worth the extra expense? My daily commute is 40 miles roundtrip.
