  3. Maverick Hybrid is inherently flawed (but I still love it)

The Rav4 hybrid "upgrade cost" vs ICE, gets you AWD too. Very much worth the $1200 or whatever the cost is now-a-days. If they put that drivetrain into a Maverick competitor we'd finally have another option. Toyota also includes ACC with their low end trims. No need for $10k upcharge like in the...
  4. Highway fuel mileage with electric cooler and without.

I want to invest in one with swappable batteries - so you can charge one via solar while camping or plug into the vehicle - but then its like $1500 all-in for batteries, solar panel, and fridge. That buys me a lot of ice, and most trips aren't long enough to run out of ice. We camp in bear...
  5. Highway fuel mileage with electric cooler and without.

I like a decent soft-cooler and some ice. AO / Polar Bear soft cooler (I think ours is a knockoff version of AO? its 8+ years old and works great for weekend trips) No need for an overpriced Yeti or heavy and expensive electric "cooler" either. If you buy a decent one, you've just bought a...
  6. Confirmation order Hybrid

That's a lot of miles in a short time - a hybrid will be great on gas savings, IMO. Not as quick, so you gotta pick your priorities. I think the 100k warranty on hybrid components should offset any worries about their reliability, also. (many people have and so say that turbo engines aren't...
  7. Maverick Hybrid is inherently flawed (but I still love it)

We have a Prius Prime - the larger battery is mainly beneficial when coming down from the mountains. We can get 40% + charge in it sometimes. A non plug-in / smaller battery would top out much sooner. (plus we get 30+ EV miles locally on a charge) With that said, there's a reason the engineers...
  8. Beware: Heat Exchanger not covered under warranty

Generally, any MIL will fail a CA smog test. (although new cars are exempt from testing for 4 years - looks like 8 now, actually) Catch-22 Need to fail a smog test for Ford to be required to repair the issue. Smog test not required yet. (again for CA - and likely for the other 11 states)
  9. Factory Tracking Devices in Mavericks

I hope you smashed your computer after typing this (after removing hard drive) and tossed your burner cell phone and relocated to a new safe house.
  10. Leveled vs Lowered Maverick Side by Side Comparison

I like the free option. So, generally whatever it came with from the factory. $0 lift/lower :) Lots of highly paid people determined the ride height and suspension parts all work together to achieve the best (balanced) performance at the lowest price. And for tires - I wait until I need new...
  11. Lifted Tremor Maverick on 2" Rough Country Lift Kit + Yokohama Geolander MT 255/75/17 Tires

Who cares how it drives/sucks gas/breaks - its all about how awesome it looks!!! I mean, it almost looks as good as a 4x4 ladder frame truck that would actually work offroad - but again, who cares! It only has to LOOK like it can go offroad. Be sure to add a sweet overlanding setup to it as...
  12. Beware: Heat Exchanger not covered under warranty

@Greg_in_GA Nailed it. I think it you take those steps, 90% chance it's covered.
  13. A little perspective on dealer incentive to give a rip about your order...

So... lets end the dealership model. A customer and a salesperson are at opposite ends - the more one "wins", the more the other "loses". Pretty stupid way to have to make the second largest consumer purchase most people transact.
  14. This is not right.

...but, but, it feels right to me!!! It's my truth!
  15. Leave with dealer or keep and sell?

You should be able to get some offers online prior to buying it and see. With price protection, it seems like an easy flip for profit. Or offer the dealer a 50/50 split for whatever they get over your price on the next buyer...
  16. This is not right.

Much more entertaining than this thread, I'd wager
  17. This is not right.

I can't help but correct this thread title to "This is not on" per a recent Hulu show "Koala Man"
  18. Heated Debate with Dealer about Private Offer

Car salesmen/women and real estate agents are in the same useless third party category that wants to make money for adding $0 value to my transaction. I'll admit that I'm much more informed than the average consumer, but unfortunately that doesn't mean I can skip them and their take. They can...

  20. Heated Debate with Dealer about Private Offer

This is the worst level of incompetency. It doesn't cost the dealer anything and it helps out their customer - and only to the point of getting the offer that they deserve. Not going beyond. Just on the level. Best of luck!
