There are those times when we're not paying close attention to our speed and just enjoying the ride and before you know it, there's red/blue flashing lights in your rear view. Radar detection would be useful in those situations.
Today's vehicles have made huge advances in suspensions, brakes, tires, and overall road feel. I remember being terrified at driving 65mph in a 1970 Mercury Comet. I felt less driving and more "hanging on". My point being it feels easier and safer to drive higher speeds in modern automobiles.
Good advice. Seems that younger drivers are of the opinion they don't have much time, so speeding is "normal'., whereby us older drivers think we have all the time in the world.
Not so much "confused" as just not correctly informed. ACC on its own applying the brakes makes sense. Good point about no brake lights going downhill with ACC activated, but I've yet to see empirical proof. (I'd have to follow myself or another Maverick with ACC going on.) Might be referenced...
Gorgeous color! Worth the wait. You're in for some real driving pleasure. Great to have you in the club, and want to wish you many safe and adventurous travels.
Both Mavericks may have some common place, but what a difference to drive. I happened to drive a friend's '70-something Maverick many, many years ago and the driving experience was scary. Road feel was non-existent, steering was worse than a John Deere tractor, and I didn't dare drive over...
Never thought I'd run into another Rambler station wagon veteran. Yeah, my dad had one . . . under powered 6 cyl gutless wonder. It was at best, sufficient. Never got it as a hand me down as my dad splurged on a '67 Chevy wagon. The V8 was a huge all-around improvement.
I was responding to his statement that he doesn't follow himself so he cannot see how effective his pulse bulb is for braking. I was making a joke about it. Hopefully, my joke wasn't too corny.
I love my knob! Er, that didn't come out right. I like the rotary knob shifter. Opens up a lot of space in the middle of the truck and it works well.
I use N for those auto car washes and when flat towing (TBH, I don't flat-tow, but that's another use for it).
You're going to have to do a lot more to warrant the word "crazy" from this club! Modifying our Mavericks is one of the joys of owning one. Do what makes you happy.
No apology needed. I thought your reply was hilarious. It's just one never knows how the recipient might take it. But @Cherokee dishes out much of the same, so I'm pretty sure he's good enough for equal blowback.
