Adding my two cents on the tailgate dampener . . . absolutely worth the $20 or so and easily found on Amazon. Having the remodeled tie down on the tailgate is almost mandatory. You might not think you have a need for it, but if you only have to use it once, it's worth it.

Your interpretation seems to be accurate. If the system was supposed to stop the truck before impact, in my situation it would have stopped the truck before I had to swerve. As it happened, I did not feel any attempt by the vehicle to brake, but perhaps I swerved before it could respond. Not...
