Thanks for sharing the video Troy! Quite a bit of metal in there.
Doing my second transmission drain & fill soon (probably next week) as my FX4 is about to cross 50k miles. Also doing the second drain & fill of the PTU and RDU too. I'm interested to see how all of my fluids look!
Hence why I said the RDU being different, in my post you quoted...
Ford would obviously have to do some more engineering with the RDU to make it work. But that's the thing, they could have made it work with a little more R&D, they just didn't go down that path.
So you're telling me all this time, Ford could have been doing this?! Obviously other than the RDU being different. Sounds like Ford was just too lazy to try to make 4K tow + Tremor work. I'm glad to see you are getting it done though!
Is there a knock sensor or two located at the bottom of the block so that you can just drain all of the coolant in one go? Just curious because that would make this job a lot quicker.
Another thing I'll add after reading the original post again... aside from the parking brake, the parking pawl should have automatically engaged anyways as soon as you opened the drivers door. That's a safety feature nowadays after that actor got ran over by his own truck some years ago. So...
In my experience, the parking brake will engage when the truck is off, even with the key out of the ignition. I've done it standing outside of the truck, with the driver's door open, like in your situation. I can hear the park brake solenoid whir when I engage it.
However, whatever happened...
I should clarify this a little more actually. Depends on atmospheric conditions for the condensation. The refrigerant going through that low pressure line is give-or-take about 40-45 F. If you live in a climate where your dew points never exceed that (desert SW, higher elevations, etc), then...
I too would highly entertain the prospect of an extended cab/6' box Ranger! Ford says if you want that configuration, then buy an F150 (which means a higher profit margin for them...) lol
I'm going to go out on a limb and say no for the calibration. The sensors for the blind spot monitoring are in the rear quarters, the light on the mirror is simply just an indicator. The sensor/camera for the lane monitoring is located in the upper windshield. It should just be a simple...
Gas hog is right! Had a 2005 FX4 for a couple years and no matter what, I could not get better than 15 MPG. Truck was solid and very clean for it's age + being a rust belt truck. Wish I had pics on my phone, will have to keep digging around.
