  1. Wife upstages me

not as bad as conflating the diminutives "-let" and "-ette" into "trucklette"! The sale of shredded cheese has been banned as part of the campaign to Make America Grate Again! yeah, the bit about wearing short-shorts and a bustier to use that rope is a deal breaker! 😲
  2. Visor warning stickers removal

What??? And not be able to flip the visor back down for instructions mid-roll???  Nah, that's OCD! :teehee: And now it occurs to me . . . taking off those stickers would let you put on your own with more "favorable" rules.
  3. adaptive cruse adjustments 2026 ford maverick

does the 26 lariat do that? [shudder] Our 25 lariat is fairly mediocre at picking up most of the signs, but not well enough to even consider letting it change speed based on it! In particular, it can't distinguish that a sign is "when children are present". it also sometimes picks up signs...
  4. Trust Your Mav to The Dealer?

oddly, the '72 chevy 400 only had a two barrel carb, rather than a quadrajet. I think that the 402 (yes, they offered both!) big block had the quadrate, though. Still, at 145 years old and about 150k miles, it left a 12 or 15 foot track of rubber from a start once . . .
  5. Does Gas Station Brand Actually Change MPG? 🤔⛽️

I'll take that a bit farther: the variation among top tier, and the variation among not, are both small compared to the gap between the least top tier and the worst other. (kind of like the difference between coffee being 100% arabica, or not [yet Starbucks is proof that you can ruin pure...
  6. Rear roof spoiler installed

Maybe he means that it spoiled the roof? 😜
  7. Trust Your Mav to The Dealer?

Not unless that air hammer can be set for shutoff at the proper torque! Years ago, the mechanic left a dangling hot wire while doing some work on my car--an Impala 40. Accelerating onto the freeway, dangling wire followed Mr. Newton's laws and touched ground behind it. So no spark for a...
  8. Missing features of my 26 Lariat HB

so KR/Limited/Platinum trim. We would have bought higher than Lariat had it been available.
  9. Vehicle purchase hacks & tips here; it's long but detailed

somewhere above, but I can't find it again, was the comment that the dealer can't change the doc fee. This is by law in some states (including mine) to prevent discrimination. When the local dealer matched Granger on my order, they reduced the sales price to make up for their higher doc fee...
  10. Advice on 2025 XLT Pricing

But here it's in addition to the doc fee! I've never been asked for that--but I generally leave the lot when I see "ADM" on the windows. The second mouse gets the cheese!
  11. Does Gas Station Brand Actually Change MPG? 🤔⛽️

There's no "consider" to it. Top Tier is a standard from a consortium of auto makers (Cadillac, Japan, Germany), and was created when they were going to release higher compression engines in the early 90s. It specifies primarily detergent levels that must be present, so that they could count...
  12. 2023 2.0 Ecoboost Transmission complete Failure at 83k miles - No Help from Ford 9k to fix

Now, now. Let's be fare. It wasn't a GM design,. but a joint Ford & GM design. This lets ford off the hook because, uhm . . . never mind . . . 😜 [Although ford also jointly developed an engine with Mazda back when it owned a lot of it. The Mazda 2.0 and Ford 2.5 are the same engine--but Ford...
  13. Sunroof or no Sunroof?? 6' 3"

I'm an uncommon 6'2", having 6' legs (32" inseam) and 6'4" torso (36" sleeves). I drive my wife's Maverick with sunroof with no issue at all--while wearing a full 5" brim western hat.
  14. Best Vehicle Colors for Resale - Clark Howard.

That could depend: sun is far harder on tricot paint, and there's no saving it once it has any fade. Metalic tri-coat has a layer of base color, then the sprinkled metallic, and then the plastic protection over that. When it fades from UV, you simply can't buff the color layer, as there are...
  15. Feels like a truck until…..

Someone drove from the Las Vegas Valley around the mountain to the AACA grand national a few weeks ago--in an '08 Cadillac! He and another driver that noone honked or otherwise complained, but just marveled at this dinosaur with a top speed of 28MPH and waved!
  16. 2025 Charging pad

I've found that the pad basically holds the charge steady when using both map/waze and music/pandora. But if the sun hit's it directly through an open window or sunroof, the iPhone goes to thermal overload and tells me to come back later.
  17. Found of those those dang GPS trackers

Now that's just nuts! 😜 Anyway, the value to the dealer could be to that reprobate it hired who sells the data to his cousin, who just got out of serving a nickel for carjacking . . .
  18. Seat Jackers - anyone installed?

The full circumstances of my set of large torx bits is one of those things that time has mercifully blacked out. I think it was a cross country trip in the E-150, and I had to pull a bolt on a seat or bolt because of an improbable but dangerous tangle. Fortunately, ISTR that I was wishing...
  19. Sunroof built in deflector

Also, the point isn't to block the air, but rather to break it up in a way that reduces noise. I suspect that a solid deflector would create a new noise at its edge! (which might or might not be worse than the one the deflector is trying to ameliorate)
  20. Feels like a truck until…..

shouldn't it simply be in the bed? 🤔
