He read it just fine. He also understands that it isn't about whether you can afford the gasoline. It is about protecting the planet. BTW, the A/C compressor runs only about 30% of the time even under the highest demand.
Hi,
I have worked on hybrids quite a bit and I can help a little. Somewhere in this thread is a link to a good video about how they work. The system used in the Maverick (and the Escape) eCVT transmission is a two motor transmission. One as primary motive power and one as regen and as a...
Same here but at 155K. The A4LD had a weak splines on the input shaft (I think it was input). Splines "rounded" off and she went nowhere.. All of the hydraulics and clutches were still good.
Off topic but that 1989 2.9L V-6 was a FANTASTIC engine. So much better that the 2.8L predecessor. I had one in a 1989 Bronco II and got 245,000 miles out of it with near zero issues
The initial research was in the 1980s using the vans that were mostly equipped with the Ford 300CID straight six. The sample size was in the thousands.
I completely agree with the different strokes comment. No question. Yet I must ask what is the "frustration the dumb ass feature causes"? I am perplexed as to any possible frustration.
No. I no longer have access to the original study. We had a UPS logistics manager speak to a group of us who were fleet managers many years ago. While the #1 reason for shutting off was safety & security, the data showed that fuel savings was relevant and increased maintenance was nil.
UPS...
Non of the things on my list on my list "bother" me. It is simply odd that EVERY other top trim vehicle has them and the Mav doesn't. I should have added power passenger seat.
UPS pioneered this idea more than 30 years ago. It has saved them millions in fuel costs with virtually zero added maintenance/repair costs.
I love auto start/stop. It should be on every ICE vehicle and not be able to be disabled.
Thanks. I guess some people think that is still an issue.
UPS did extensive research on this and found that turning off and restarting the vehicle at every stop reduced average starter life by a very tiny percentage. The savings in gasoline consumption was much greater than the increase in...
Where do I start.
Here are the things any top trim vehicle (i.e. Lariat) SHOULD have.
Homelink garage door opener
Rain Sensing wipers
Auto Dimming Mirror
Here are the features that I would like
Plug In hybrid
Two door long bed
1 foot longer (i.e. 5 1/2 foot bed)
Can someone please explain to me why or how anyone could have a problem with auto start/stop. How does it harm your life? What does it do to make your commute or trip slower? What possible reason does anyone have to dislike this feature. I have driven MANY cars with this feature and have never...
I want to thank you for that. I looked up that thread, did the calculations and adjusted my FTE to 860. Displayed MPG now is quite close to the MPG I have been experiencing up to this point.
