I agree, it’s confusing when he says instrument panel and then digital information.
But I can confirm that my infotainment screen goes black after starting and is black for a few seconds, but not consistently.
Just to be clear it is the infotainment screen we’re talking about. I think it’s a software issue as it blinks off and comes back within a few seconds. Does not always happen. So probably not much to be done unless it is more predictable.
All of these many kits have the pivot point right at point that the hood is bolted to the hinges, so yes the full weight of the hood is unsupported and hanging out there.
When I have time I will take and post a video of the issue.
Yes, and I think for all of us who have added either or both the hood strut kit or the gate shock kit, It’s mostly that we want to add convenience to our Mavericks. I sure prefer not to have the prop rod in the way, or have the kids dropping the tailgate.
In order for there to be a bend the hood must first flex. And that happens when the hood is hanging on the hinges unsupported, then flex’s further until it bends when closing it.
So many SA’s on this forum. You’d think we were in elementary school. So few adults here.
The point of the struts is not to lift the hood DA’s. It’s to hold the hood up…. Remember, it’s replacing the prop rod!
It really doesn’t have anything to do with the struts themselves, but of the free hanging weight of the unsupported hood. And also the load applied to the hinge mount when you close the hood. A gap appears between the hinges and the hood, backside of the the hinge.
Just open your hood and...
Struts VS prop rod…
I like the idea of the struts. Why? I just do.
But that said it never occurred to me that the hood is so light weight that the struts might just destroy the hood.
So I will be going back to the prop rod.
I can’t imagine that a set of bonded reinforcement plates would be cheap.
I recently installed one of the hood strut setups.
Now I’m noticing that the hood on the Maverick is in no way reinforced at the hood hinge mount, so there is a lot of flex when you open the hood.
My concern is that we will start developing cracks or bending at those mounting points.
Has anyone...
The OP expects us to get past the glare and decipher that what he is pointing at is a roll of yellow film in his left hand.
Not sure what the point is, other than he is trying to say that it is possible?
The cable is only as strong as the ends swaged onto it. It doesn’t matter how many tons the cable is rated for, it is most likely weaker at the swaying.
I used to haul all kinds of small cars, etc, in the back of an early 70s Chevrolet 3/4 ton truck, using the tailgate as a bed extension. Went...
I just bought a 25 Lariat that had been ordered with the keyless entry pad by the person who ordered it. It is installed above the door handle.
The salesman said that it arrived with it installed from the factory, but the window sticker says dealer installed. Which is true?
I think it looks...
Jeff, most excellent question !
I’m with you on this. Early tailgates used chain which where far too clunky. The flat plate hinged stops definitely make the most sense. If I was more capable I’d go to the garage and whip up a fix. They really are that simple. The most difficult part is the...
