Very Interesting. I work as any auto tech for the City of NY 30 years. When I first started one of the agencies the Parks department to be exact had farm type equipment especially tractors.

I have seen them mostly on farm vehicles long time ago.

Believe it or not some international harvester vehicles like their scout models had timing marks on the fly wheel. I have encounter that years ago

And back in 87 I thought this was complicated.

If your vehicle is housed in a garage a radio on a timer to turn on at night might work for a while.
