I have the same Tonneau Cover and mine does not leak. As ZABSMAV says, look at how it is fitted. All Tonneau Covers will leak some water (its not a perfect watertight seal). The question is how much is too much?
From what you describe, I'm not sure you need the U Haul trailer. I think you are well within the 1,500lbs Payload limit of the truck. Plus you won't have the hassle of picking up and dropping off the trailer.

My Dealer installed Ford branded Tonneau cover has no drain pipes/tubes. Personally I can't see how two super tiny tubes can drain a lot of water, given their location.
I have some vague memory of drain tubes being required for spray in bed liners.
