That would certainly be cheaper and easier. Still learning the CAD and 3d print software so looking for opportunities to customize the maverick and do that at the same time.
Just added the .step file to the original post. I based the dimensions on a piece of pressure treated decking that's been drying in my garage for a year or so so a fresh wet piece might be too tight.
Got sick of everything sliding around in the bed so I decided to makeup a divider this weekend. I didn't like how sloppy the slots were for a 2x6 so I modeled and 3d printed some end caps and used a piece of 5/4 x 6 PT decking I had laying around, painted it black and put on the caps. It fits...
Lights come on whenever I open the tailgate regardless of how long the truck has been sitting. If I were doing it again I might pick a little larger of a battery for more capacity since there is plenty of room but so far capacity has not been an issue.
I believe the breakaway charger is...
The only one I have left the chain loop is a little too low of an angle, this means the top screw has to go into the tiedown before attaching to the truck. Still will work and look fine once installed but the top screw needs to go in first. I did test fit this on my truck and it fit fine. I...
I did pretty much the same thing but the flexbed pigtails cutting power when the key was out of the ignition drove me nuts. I ended up adding a battery in one of the bed cubby's which charges via a breakaway battery charger when the truck is on, so far so good. Also won't be contributing to my...
I had a post about it, link below. I wouldn't say it was hard but it was more of a project than I anticipated, I'm pretty happy with the result. The biggest annoyance is the pigtails power being cut when the key is not in the ignition, I ended up adding a small battery in one of the bed cubbies...
Thanks!
I had considered the d ring but worried it might flip up and damage the taillight, that and only one screw. If I didn't make something I would've probably taken off the dampener or removed the factory tiedown and reinstalled when needed.
That's the one. I was pretty frustrated as I was just learning the settings of the ender and finally got it right, then it wasn't even close to fitting. I did this before I had the truck so I couldn't check the fit. Really it was way off.
Have I saved money, definitely not considering the price of the printer. That being said I don't regret getting one, it's very useful being able to design and print a part so quickly. I have a decent woodshop in my garage along with some metal fabrication equipment but the 3d printer has its...
Attached is a zip file with the STL files for the above. All parts were printed with PETG filament, solid infill. Let me know if you find this uselful.
My mods (all installed by me)
1. Surface shield rustproofing.
2. Power tailgate lock added.
3. Bed cubbies added.
4. Tailgate Assist Strut (fabricated a new tiedown to work with it)
5. Bug deflector.
6. Splash guards (ppf installed at contact areas)
7. Kia home link mirror, hardwired.
