I went from a 2wd 4runner to a Forester to the hybrid Maverick. The Maverick is less capable off road than either of the first 2 but it gets 36 mpg. I get your point. Washouts and ruts can be deceiving. When I got stuck it was because I over estimated the capability of the vehicle. I am much...
I have thought about it. AT tires definitely. The Tremor package looked promising but it is not enough. If I spent a lot of time off road I would buy a Ranger and modify it.
Next week I'm going to Colorado and crawling over some 4 wheel roads in my old stomping grounds. I have a Jeep Wrangler...
The air dam on the front bumper is only 6" off the pavement. The center is only 8" with a fairly long wheel base and miserable departure angles. Tow points for the non fx4 on the front are two 1" holes which require special hooks to use.
Be careful off road.
I have gotten stuck twice. The stock Continental tires are useless on any clay surface. Better hope it doesn't rain. Keep the vehicle moving or you will get stuck. Gumbo clay could really tear up the underside of this vehicle if you don't get stuck first. Personally, I am avoiding unimproved...
Won't get any argument here, but it does allow you to look through a few albums and change tracks while on the go. There are lots of things thàt àre disabled when you are moving.
Press the browse button on the screen.. Then press search. All your music will be indexed. The song list for the album and the ability to search by artist, album, genre, song title.
Ok, I have to bite. You can produce really loud bass out of the door speaker. Just put in a speaker that can handle it. But then, you have to worry about blowing your door apart. 1 minute of loud will not hurt anything. But if you consistently turn it up to that level, things will break...
I posted about that option a year ago and thought it was striking. It almost matches the accents in the cab. I'm glad someone tried it. You only live once.
Give it a chance. If you go into the search, it will catalog your albums by name , artist and song title. It will give you options for play back including starting where you left off, repeats and playlists. I have a memory stick with over a 100 albums and it is by far the most elegant interface...
I used the reference 6.5 components in the front and 4" coax in the rear. It is not plug and play but an adapter plate and metra adapters and it is easy. If you can get the door panel off then you should be able to install the speakers.
There is a limit to how much bass you can produce from the door without blowing the door and speaker apart. The factory amp has enough power to do just that.
If you want pounding bass, then add a sub in the back and secure it firmly. The front speakers can then use a crossover to block low...
When I replaced my speakers and added sound deadening to the door panel I realized it was made of several panels with plastic spot welds holding it together. There are lots of places where the plastic pieces could vibrate against each other. I tucked sound deadening in the gaps.
The factory amp...
I have to say that the factory sound system is pretty good, but there is always room for improvement. I replaced all the speakers with Infinity Reference and added sound deadening in the front doors. It is better, but not a world of difference.
This is after I had tried some Timpanos because...
I do love how the maverick accelerates on the ramp and the 50 to 80 passing acceleration. The drive train has truly been optimized for those two real world situations where acceleration is needed.
I have found that I have slowed down driving the Maverick. I came from a Subaru Forester with the boxer engine that just begged to be revved and an all wheel drive tuned to get you through the curves quick and securely
The Maverick is a little different. It is ultra elegant slipping through the...
Over half of the cars in my church parking lot are Prius's and have bumper stickers. I have never even considered driving one or sporting a bumper sticker.
Yesterday, I was down at the boat ramp and told my truck just didn't have big enough tires. I smiled as I unloaded my 16 foot boat off the...
I have been wondering for awhile what folks experience is with the Maverick over 80 mph. I'm a little ashamed to admit it but I occasionally drive at high speeds. It seems to me, that my Maverick hybrid is not really stable at those speeds. Is it my truck? Am I asking for too much or should I...
