The roof rails look cosmetic and nonfunctional. The flying buttresses are just ugly. But I like high departure cowling and tow hooks below the bumper. I think I'll have a problem with the bumper they settle on.
I still think everyone really wants (even if they don't know it) is two crossbars. One on the bed and a matching one on the cab. It is not on the market yet.
The rails need to be low enough to tie off a load. The hard load to carry for the Maverick will be light 10 foot sections of pipe or...
My wife just laughs at me for being obsessed over a truck. She is the one one who said I need a truck since she is tired of smelling the trash and moving tools to use the back hatch.
30 years ago I dismantled an electric screw driver. The secret inside was a planetary gear set. I was impressed by it. A little electric motor translated all it's speed to torque. Makita took that idea and started producing battery operated drill drivers that revolutionized the market.
This is a great thread. I'm going through the same learning curve. When the light first came on (the little bulb over my head in a bubble) I thought it was brilliant, and the future of all automobiles. Then I tried to explain it to someone and confused myself terribly. Then I went back to John...
My experience with the drive modes on my Honda Accord Hybrid
Sport-- dashboard lites up red, sound piped through the speakers is loud.
normal-- still loud when you stomp on the gas.
eco-- the air conditioner is anemic.
I am buying this instead of another Subaru Forester. It is comparable. The outside storage is key along with the low bed height. I expect the ride and handling to be good enough for long trips. The better gas mileage is a bonus.
Wow, straight line performance in a stock compact pickup truck. We want it all in one vehicle. Utility to carry everything we own, haul a trailer up a mountain, speed, power and the manuverability of a small turning radius. Next thing we will want is sports car handling , launch control and a...
I agree. Currently, I am thinking that anything that hooks to both the truck bed and the cab better be designed to provide for a lot of flex in the unibody. The bed and cab may move separately or they may be tied together by a space frame.
Look up L rail especially at US Cargo. Mac's is just one brand there are all kinds cleats at all price points. L track is used in cargo planes to tie down loads. It is cost effective and bomb proof.
If I were young. . . and I still am at heart. I'd go XL hybrid in as bright a color as possible. The tow hitch and a matching color liner from Bullet. Money still means something to you and this is about as cost effective a ride as money can buy. That 2021 Colorado is worth a good bit more than...
My wife taunted me mercilessly when I drove a 4Runner. I called it a truck. She called it my SUV. I wonder what she will call the Maverick?
My buddy is restoring an f450 S hook with a Cummins diesel. He says, "You'all drive pickups. Call me when you need a real truck." And I do.
I was teaching Sunday school this morning. The kids wanted to use the playground but the mosquitos were too thick. I laughed to myself as went out to my car and brought back enough bug spray for the whole class.

I am looking at the video of the straight line acceleration and noticing that the battery is only providing torque for a couple of seconds off the line. It again provides torque at at between 20-40 mph. I think this is programmed in by Ford to work well with all the other drive components. Not...
I am giving my daughter my 14 Subaru Forester with 130k. I'll miss the symetrical AWD and the fact that the seats fold down and I can carry 8 foot lumber inside and a 16 foot kayak on the roof. I'm hoping repair costs on the Ford will be lower seeing as how it is built Ford tough.
While...
