  1. New Maverick Recall: 2.5 Hybrid Engine Fire Hazard [Updated w/ Safety Recall Notice to Dealers]

The Recall clearly states this is a factory defect: "engine related manufacturing issues" And the defect results in engine failure. Sure that sounds bad. But it's "isolated". Someone else posted another letter that put the # of reported failures at 20-something for a production run of...
  2. July 28– 2023 Chevy Colorado Release

I've 0 issues with my Mav ... knock on wood! About to hit 5,000 miles! Still, it's naive to think there wouldn't be some issue with any 1st year model. Folks are reporting issues: windshield crack, battery cable failure, DOA hybrids, etc. I don't take that as a ding on Ford b/c we got...
  3. July 28– 2023 Chevy Colorado Release

I've had none of those issues. What year model? The 8-speed gasser? My '17 had wiring harness failure. It's a well-known. Our Mavs will eventually have known issues too. The Twins (GMC Canyon/Chevy Colorado) were the only mid-size left that came with a diesel. After GM dropped the diesel...
  4. Patience is a fool. Never again.

Want attention from Ford? email? calls? Poke used car brokerages. I gave TrueCar my contact info and BAM! Ford dealers blew up my phone within hours! calling & emailing me for 2 weeks non-stop!! "Reaching out again ... let me know about that Ranger" :sneaky: This was back before I put...
  5. Hybrid Toyota RAV4 and Prime reliability, call for a class-action lawsuit

RAV4 Prime is competition in my book. I rode around in my sister's before grabbing my Mav. (And I'll ask my sister if Toyato has said anything to their customers.) Different than Mav Hybrid? Sure. 1. Mav isn't a plugin 2. Mav Hybrid doesn't have rear motor. But how do naysayers think the...
  6. 20% off Ford Accessories up to $1000. Code ACC20. Ends 6/30/22.

Follow-up from that ^ points question: So we can combine our points + this discount? If "yes", I'm gonna grab a bed cover!
  7. Cost of Ownership based on MPG

The highway MPG we see depends on speed -- if still stock (so no lift, aftermarket tires, etc). I've noticed that above 65mph, my dash MPG Guess-O-Meter starts to drop. Between that and down to 55mph, it's above 40MPG. Out here in the country, it's easy for me to hover around 55.
  8. Cost of Ownership based on MPG

Perfectly timed post b/c I was just checking fuel retail forecasts. Who bets $5.25/gal by end of summer? Californians are already paying more so I don't think $5.25/gal is a doomsday forecast. The EIA's data was up, up, and up; then their forecast settles just above '21 prices. OK, maybe...
  9. Think Ive lost the excitment.

🤣 that pic is priceless. I waited 9mons, and considered cancelling ... but got a towing mid-size in addition to the Mav for light towing. Diesel is another dying breed. After waiting mons on my Mav (and back then several issues sounded bad for Mav), I bought a used diesel Chevy Colorado...
  10. Differences between XL vs XLT?

And power side mirrors. Sure I've driven with manual sides but they don't make moveable by wires from inside anymore. Ya gotta literally step out and adjust the right mirror. Non-issue for exclusive driver but for those of us who share the Mav daily ... yeah been there, got the T-shirt, and...
  11. Using points for accessories

Seriously?! o_O Shame on Ford. Chevy makes this stupid simple! I login to Chevy's website, add accessory, select dealer to pickup/install, pay with points! Just got my 42k points, was clicking everywhere on Ford's website to get them to work; so I have to read 3 documents, call a dealer...
  12. Free gift

FITS package was in my backseat when we picked up my Mav last week.* Dealer made no mention of it ever, so it was a cute surprise. "Cute" -- by that I mean: don't sweat it. It's grey plastic bits so it's more the thought that counted :) * Yes! Finally delivered & we bought it! I'll post a...
  13. I told the sales manager I didn't need an extended warranty because my Maverick was built Ford Tough...

Call me a sucker then! I bought extended but it was for a used. Doesn't make sense with factory new. Insurer matters. My insurer has paid for everything on our other truck. Makes sense because it was a pretty penny comprehensive policy. Cheap insurance is cheap crap. Also, 2 service...
  14. Scumbag move by Crain Ford Jacksonville Arkansas

I wouldn't expect to win a lawsuit unless the dealer had countersigned a doc that had the total OTD price. The DORA ain't OTD price, and most dealers didn't sign the DORAs. The legalese doesn't matter anyways. If it costs a consumer $5-10k in legal fees to win $5-10k in markup, then it's Net...
  15. Ford Maverick Broke Down @ 128 Miles, Ford is giving me the run around.

Ah. So Ford factory warranty always gets customers a Hertz? or rental? Interesting how this is handled differently, either by manufacturer, dealer, or when under factory warranty vs extended warranty. My Chevy is under extended warranty, and it does cover (some) rental costs, but that...
  16. Scumbag move by Crain Ford Jacksonville Arkansas

Thx for confirming both points. That's Lehto's take as well. Consumers aren't often protected by law so I say use our wallets. Some continue to pay markup, and they've defended the purchase as "needed the car", but without boycott or lawsuit, dealers will do business as usual.
  17. Constraint Update Email Coming Today: Co-Pilot 360, XLT Luxury, Lariat Luxury

Sounds like being at a Vegas craps table. Crap! Summer '21 orders are still waiting but newer orders WITH these constraints have been built. So facts speaker louder than any email Ford sends.
  18. Ford Maverick Broke Down @ 128 Miles, Ford is giving me the run around.

This. Chevy has my other truck in their shop and gave me a loaner. It's been a week with the loaner -- it's crappy SUV but gets from point A->B. Also, car parts are on backorder everywhere, not just Ford. Evidently the other Hybrid owner waited 6 weeks b/c of parts, so it'd be better to get...
  19. Scumbag move by Crain Ford Jacksonville Arkansas

:geek: I was just waiting for another fan of Lehto to post here. One problem with Lehto's vid today: that's for _advertised_ price not being OTD price. This thread's gripe is that the markup is already being advertised, so I don't think the Maryland case will help. Here's Lehto on markups...
