So now that there's a hybrid that is cheaper than an ICE, we'll just throw out the old total cost #s and go back to tree hugger argument.
Very well played.
I get you're smiling there :) but there was a lot of flack against conventional hybrids b/c of their premium price. Hybrid was a premium markup scam that took 15+yrs to payback in gas savings, blah blah blah. What Ford did here with Maverick is tilt the scales in the opposite direction...
25mpg vs 35mpg adds up quickly.
Go 15k miles /yr @ $3/gal, and that's $500 per year that I've saved.
I'll take the $500 plus the $3k for the Eco + AWD upgrade.
Are there post holes for lumber racks like this?
I've looked at several pics of the bed from above in the past and don't see plugs or cutouts for where posts would be inserted. The plastic cladding covers up the tops of the bed walls.
+1. I'm all ears on this detail too.
I will say one thing: notice that Ford only listed the combined horsepower of the Hybird, and not the combined torque ...
I did the same lookup when the Ford tow guide finally came out. The curb weights were a bit different between the two but basically Ford got the Maverick to tow the same as the old 4bangers. Yet another reason I think this trucklet should have gotten the Ranger name, not that other beast of a...
You beat me to it.
More knee jerk replies that are MISinformed.
Ford clearly states in the notes of their doc that the customer must follow the procedure for putting the Hybrid into towed neutral. To me, that sounds exactly what other flat tow & TOAD vehicle owners must do.
I plan on flat...
You sound curious to know the real there-there, and I think that's fair when people are willing to do their homework and not just give knee jerk reactions.
Did previous gens of the hybrid trans have issues? Yes. Nothing is perfect (despite GM thinking their Allison tranies are perfection.)...
You're forgetting that someone claimed their Jeep Cherokee could get better MPG @ 70MPH than the rated 60MPH from the EPA highway. Well, then the Hybrid will get even MORE MPGs than 34! Or is there some special exception to this rule of more efficiency at higher speed?
You packing in? Or many occupants?
You'll want to calculate from the combined GCVR too. The Hybrid can do about 6000lb combined and the curb weight is about 3,700lb so 1,000lb towed leaves good amount of payload left but 2000lb only leaves room for 2 Average Americans.
