Isn't 40% efficiency high for ICE? I'd read that it's typically around 25%. ICE is great a generating lots of heat :)
Also, it's not clear if the battery 60% is an efficiency rating or a capacity rating, but I assume efficiency. It could be confusing for anyone who doesn't know that SoC...
Anyone else see that Alex did a tow test of the Rav4 Hybrid?
Points raised by folks here made me look around for more info. There's no tow tests for the Escape Hybrid but there's 2 done by Alex with the Rav4 Hybrid. The Rav4's hybrid specs are similar to Maverick Hybrid: 2.5l Atkinson cycle...
Subaru should bring the Baja back. Competition makes everything better, even Ford.
ConsumerReports subscribers are like Nielsen Ratings families: you always hear about them, but never meet one. aka. I don't believe either.
Not all hybrids are the same. Example: my Chevy Volt has 2 different set of posts to use: 1 for jumping another car, a 2nd set of posts for jump starting the Volt itself. But the Volt is a PHEV or RxBEV, depending on someone's definition, not a conventional hybrid.
Yea I generally agree with...
The Prius hate reminds me of the old Simpson's scene when Homer catches up to Flander's Geo.
Flander's wife: "Come on Ned, move this thing!"
Flanders: "I can't! It's a Geo!"
:ROFLMAO:
My brother-in-law drove a Geo and an F250. The Geo was for daily commutes. Smart man!
Yup, a friend packs his mountain bikes this way. I haul mine with a Thule rack.
Hits? I have a carbon bike. The carbon is for weight. It's a road racing bike. My partner's bike is also carbon. It's a tri(athlon) bike. They're for speed on roads and hopefully NOT hitting anything...
Yup, some of us have noticed Ford isn't publishing combined torque #s. Either it's terrible and they don't want us to know or it's great and they don't want to outshine something else.
I'd like to see power curves too. Where did MG2 130hp come from?
The hybrid's final drive ratio is 2.91:1...
The Gen2 Escape Hybrid also had one of these hidden buttons. Pressing the button would use the 12V to turn over the ICE, and that would start charging up the HV again.
I don't believe anything on this thread implying the Maverick Hybrid would need to be towed away unless someone has a new...
Same! The Gen2 Escape Hybrid got me addicted to mileage. Now I snicker at anything in the 20 MPGs :)
I also sold the Escape and now drive a Chevy Volt, which is more a PHEV despite some folks arguing that it's a RX (Range Extended) BEV.
Good? It's dang impossible to get into the 30s with...
Yup, I made the same mistake. Wound up in the shoulder after a patch of ice with BFG A/T KO2 despite the 3 Peaks. I don't trust any tire that's A/T or knobby anymore as a real snow tire, even if it has the 3 Peaks.
Maybe there should be a difference between "winter tire" and "snow tire"...
Except the 775 lb-ft Lightening :D but let's not digress. That's still a great motto that has been true. I'd just add that a well mated tranny is just as important, and that sounds like some of your point too.
Take my RV: a E450 SD 6.8L V10 that quickly looses uphill mountain speed if you...
The Tacoma V6 did this and still got poor EPA mileage #s. But I'd be curious if folks got better MPG in the wild.
I don't think towing mileage matters as much because towing sucks a lot of MPGs. MPGs & fuel savings for daily commute? Yes, that matters.
I posted to the thread on Hybrid...
Right. Towing expectations have changed in 20years. Back then, towing was slow & steady.
The old 4banger Ranger got <150hp and right about 150 lb-ft. The Tacoma i4 got a bit better hp & torque than the Ranger. The Hybrid's 2.5L power specs are a little better than the old 4bangers, but not...
Ditto. My partner and I have considered the Ecoboost a couple of times. Yes, for AWD. But then we run the #s. And I don't mean carbon footprint, or # of trees saved; no I mean gas $ + purchase $. It just doesn't add up. Snow tires will be cheaper to run than the few times we (may) need...
