The $100 reference was from back in early June when we were still trying to figure out the reservation system. In other models, Ford required a $100 reservation fee, but with the Maverick, it was just a sales lead.

There may be a few difficulties with installing a cap/cover/topper on the Maverick. With that curved rear pillar and unibody construction, there is no clear break at the cab/bed. Maybe I'm just being paranoid, but I worry about water making it into the bed at the cab.
Yes, it definitely isn't going to keep a determined thief out of it, but I don't plan on keeping valuables in it, exposed, overnight. Just to keep when I go into a store' restaurant, or checking into a hotel or the like, when I can't legally have it in my hip. Thanks for posting the video...
If I had not wanted the AWD/FX4/4k, I would have absolutely gone with the 2.5 Hybrid. That being said, go with whichever motor will suit your needs. I can't say for certain, but I'm fairly sure they both will be reliable.
I think they (Ford) have been touting the 1500 "all in the bed" as a marketing ploy for those concerned with the unibody design. Sort of like saying "you're not going to fold it in half by putting a lot in the bed."
