  1. Slammed on Silver's Coilovers (23 Hybrid Lariat)

@Big Smitty, I just want to be clear - for the rear, turn which collars to load up the spring? The collars on the shock body, or the collars on the spring perch piece (not sure what it's called) which are in contact with the spring? From another post, I'd epxect it's the shock body, but I want...
  2. Bad Axles

Thank you for your input and the time you've taken to share it. That "racing" guy is just a random guy on the internet, but to my view, so are you. So is each of us. There is a difference between speaking authoritatively on a topic and being an authority on a topic. In my original post, I...
  3. Bad Axles

On the stock truck at rest, the wheel hub is lower than output of trans. So the axle angles downward. Bad pic of mine using a flashlight: Again, these are fronts on my FWD.
  4. Bad Axles

I've run a forum search and read most of the threads where axle issues have been reported. Where are the mechanics and engineers? There is a lot of speculation as far as cause, but it seems like a lot of the talk is adding FUD and very little value. The opinions would mean more to me if they...
  5. Slammed on Silver's Coilovers (23 Hybrid Lariat)

You've helped another person, thank you. I left my HAG module in its original location - I didn't move it inside the engine compartment as you suggested, I just rerouted the harness to it. Why'd you choose to move the whole module? It looks to be tucked so far up in the fender that it didn't...
  6. Post your Maverick next to ridiculously large trucks - photos thread

Yes, Jetta I used is a manual trans TDI. Best mileage has been 47mpg over a tank (600mi). I love it, but it's being sold to make room in the garage for the recently-purchased Maverick.
  7. Post your Maverick next to ridiculously large trucks - photos thread

It's a kit offered by Smyth Kit Cars, my donor car was a Jetta TDI. They have the kit available for a bunch of vehicles - VW Beetle, Dodge Charger, Audi A4/S4, Subaru Impreza, and Jeep Grand Cherokee. My signature on the left has a link to my Google album of the build process. I did the project...
  8. Tailgate Hole revisited, with easy solution

I've used silicone outdoors in a harsh environment (Wisconsin, temps range from -40F to 95F) and it holds up. Note that this is 100% pure silicone, different from typical household latex caulk which isn't as tough. In this case, it won't see much sun or water as it faces downward when the...
  9. Tailgate Hole revisited, with easy solution

Since the prior thread on this topic is closed, here's what I did to address it. A past truck I owned had rust come through the paint on the bottom of the tailgate and it started to appear about 3 years from when it was new. I'm convinced it's from dirt, wood chips, leaves, grass, and...
  10. Silver's Na Neomax Coilovers FINALLY Dialed In!

I had inquired with Sivers about the extenders - they told me they weren't applicable to the Maverick because the adjustability dials were more easily accessible for us than some other vehicles.
  11. Rear Center Seat Belt Removal HOW-TO (non-destructive method)

For those unaware, people are removing the rear center seat belt in order to remove some of its parts to make room behind the seat for audio gear. I've seen other threads mention cutting the belt in order to remove it, but you don't have to. Here's what I did which should be 100% reversible...
  12. Has anyone installed the front license plate bracket without the plastic rivets?

Mine has the plate holder installed in the lower black part of the bumper cover using #14 x 1-1/2" long sheet metal screws. I know the exact size because I just had to buy a couple more of them. Thse screws are sizable enough that they look like lag bolts. With the proper size pilot hole...
  13. What is this information for?

On my hybrid XL with the 4.2" screen, the number of screens in the list that you can choose from is very limited (4 choices) compared to the list shown in the manual for the 6.5" screen (13 choices). The seat belt screen does not appear to be among the 4.2" screen choices.
  14. Silver's coilovers landed-

For those of us reading this that may not be aware (includes me), have there been problems reported for CV joints? Was it for lifted, or for lowered? Front? Or rear (if AWD)? Or, if no issues - are you just looking at this with an abundance of caution?
  15. Tailgate Hole

Does the adhesive strip hold well on the spray-in bedliner rough surface?
  16. Ran the numbers on miles it takes to "Break Even" with the higher price of the Hybrid Maverick 🙇🏻‍♂️💰

Keep a vehicle to 300k miles, and the chances it needs an engine replacement at that mileage might be the same as the chances that a hybrid needs a battery replacement at that time. I've had 3 cars that I've come close to 200k miles with and it took about 15-20 years to put on that many miles...
  17. Wisconsin Want to buy XL/XLT Hybrid w/ Area 51

I ended up purchasing an absolutely pristine 2023 XL in Area51 w/ 1700 miles on it from a couple in Washington for a price we were all happy with. Flew out there and drove it 1600 miles home. Thank you to all who replied to my ad. Car dealers who tack on mandatory add-ons or have a huge...
  18. Wisconsin Want to buy XL/XLT Hybrid w/ Area 51

Thank you to everyone who has responded, publicly or privately. It had been a month since I posted my wanted post. It's almost become part of my daily routine to check the forums here as well as all the typical forsale sites. Thought I'd found the one (right condition, right options...
