Before trying to get a dealer to replace it, I'd attempt to blow it out with an air compressor, or even try bending one of those fuzzy pipe cleaners into the gap and sweeping it out.
One frustration with auto start/stop for me was having to remember to press the dumb ass button every time I started my truck to turn the dumb ass feature off!

The ONLY time I've felt a need to shut off my running vehicle was sitting in our understaffed and painfully slow Arby's drive thru. I simply turned off the key. Worked great!
