I ordered my Maverick without the FX4 package or the tow package because I wanted maximum hwy mpg. If anything I would think that the tow package would add a good bit to the resale value.

I never drive in Eco mode. I tried it on the highway once. Sport is quicker off a stop over normal mode. Seems each mode alters the RPM speed. Makes sense. In Sport mode it runs at a higher RPM which helps the turbo boost come on quicker while Eco mode RPM's on the highway are about 200 RPM's...

I don't think so. The Maverick has smaller windows (new cars have higher window sills for safety) and the bed sides are higher. But in width and length pretty similar. My Maverick next to a co-workers 2 door Ranger. Think his is a 2006.

My Maverick seems to get the best mileage using 90 octane non-ethanol (that is the highest octane non-ethanol I've been able to find). Better than 93 octane ethanol blend even.

The down stroke of the pistons on the intake cycle creates a vacuum which pulls air in through the air intake. As long as there isn't some big blockage of air flow, the engine will get the air it needs. I think it's kind of funny when people add these air intakes and such and then use 87 octane...

The AWD gets the independent rear suspension vs. the twist beam on the FWD. As far as mpg, the FWD will probably get maybe 1 mpg better or so. The extra weight of the drive shaft, rear differential and rear axles are really the only differences between the AWD and FWD as far as power to weight...

Probably wasn't snow, but water. A catch can gets amounts of water in it which is bad in cold climate states during winter. Any water in the catch can will freeze to ice and can cause blockage to the PCV valve.
