Excellent report. I had a very similar experience with mine.
I replaced the PTU fluid at 5,005 miles as a precaution, and plan to keep doing it every 15,000 miles moving forward. Cheap insurance for long-term reliability.
Thanks for sharing!
Here’s my experience so far with the new 2025 EcoBoost — honestly, this engine is a beast across the full RPM band. I love the torque, especially how it sounds and pulls at low revs.
1st oil change: at 495 miles (break-in flush) — replaced the factory Motorcraft oil with a Group IV full...
If we’re talking about the 2025 Maverick EcoBoost — mine was built in December 2024. I check oil every 1,500 miles and so far, results are solid:
• 1st oil change after 485 miles driven — 0 consumption (break-in flush)
• 2nd change after 4,005 miles driven — ~400cc used
• Recent, 3rd oil...
Good question — but the Hybrid powertrain is totally different from the EcoBoost. It uses a naturally aspirated 2.5L engine with no turbo, and the exhaust flow is much lower and smoother by design.
You can install a different muffler, but it likely won’t give you much of a benefit in power or...
Totally fair — I don’t think the MagnaFlow swap added huge HP numbers on its own. But the 2025 EcoBoost with the new MPC head seems to come extremely choked by design, especially in the exhaust section.
The OEM muffler is likely flowing under 300 CFM, while the MagnaFlow 12255 is around 475 CFM...
Totally get the frustration — the 8-speed auto in the EcoBoost isn’t exactly intuitive. It hunts for gears, and Normal mode feels tuned for MPG over drivability.
A few things that may help (I know it did to others..):
Try Tow mode for daily driving — it actually smooths things out without...
Honestly, not really worth it on the Hybrid
The engine sound on the hybrid is pretty minimal by design, and the exhaust flow needs are way lower. You could change it, but you wouldn’t get the same gains or feeling as on the EcoBoost. Different animal
All good man! 😎 I get it — not everyone likes to hear the engine play. I respect that. For me, it's not about loud or screaming... it's about letting the motor breathe better and sound alive without being annoying. And yeah — always fun to tinker and improve what you drive. Thanks for your comment!
If you are thinking to fix the drone and the harsh sound a resonator is a very good idea.
Some good options are:
Vibrant Ultra Quiet 17950 (very good to cut drone)
Magnaflow 10416 (good balance between flow and sound)
Borla XR1 resonator (makes a sporty nice tone)
If you really want to calm...
Thanks MAVSTangVa — I’m fully aware. But under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, the burden is on the manufacturer to prove that the exhaust change directly caused a problem. A muffler swap alone doesn’t automatically void anything.
Thank you for your comment.
Just to clarify: a resonator and a muffler are two very different things — they serve distinct purposes. Especially on the Maverick, the small rear resonator integrated into the pipe is designed only to fine-tune sound frequencies, not to significantly manage exhaust...
First of all, I apologize if this thread created the need for some of you to step into technical discussions — it was never my intention to cause this type of debate.
However, when I see certain attitudes — aggressive and lacking technical foundation — I feel obligated to respond, respectfully...
