Good results. Hills are not necessarily the enemy of mpgās in Mav hybrids (whereas flat, uncrowded interstates are). You also dropped about 360 ft in elevation (948 to 588). Your mpgās also depends on how congested highways/interstates are. On congested and hilly interstates in Atlanta, I can...
Has anyone driven Harlingen to Houston to San Antonio and back to Harlingen in a Maverick hybrid? Or have you driven any of these segments? What mpgās did you get overall? How much on each segment? How fast did you drive?
Speculation: You might travel a lot at 75 mph on cruise. Harlingen to...
36 mpgās is truly Ok ā Fuelly average. The EPA says for a ā22 Mav hybrid you should get 37 mpgās overall.
Maybe your experience is what Ford wanted its customers, who just want to drive a great vehicle, to get.
The key thing is enjoying your Mav hybrid. Hope thatās where you are. To each...
36 calculated the old way or per dash? Do you tend to drive on flat, non-congested highways/interstates? (I know there are a lot of these in TX.) Or hilly, congested highways/interstates?
Congested interstates are not mpg killers since the slow speed of traffic allows you to drive a lot in...
I-81 is one of the most scenic roads in the US.
Wife & I have also taken an almost 1,500 mi trip in our std cruise control XLT: north GA to south FL on the west coast, across the state to the east coast at Ft. Pierce, and back to north GA. Elevation change: 1,100 ft to 0 and back up. Drove at...
Something doesnāt look right with the picture. 1,002.5 plus 801 = 1,803.5, the total number of miles you would have driven before the tank would be empty. At 55.5 mpg, this would take 32.5 gal to drive that distance (1,803.5 / 55.5). The size of the gas tank is only 18.3 gal.
Note: it would be...
Thoughts on impact of elevation changes and hilly, congested interstates (I/Sās) on Mav hybrid mpgās:
Facts: Atlanta area. 28 mi one way, 56 mi RT. 11 miles of generally down hill, congested I/S. Elevation drop from 1,100 to 950 ft. Followed by 18 miles of generally up hill driving on congested...
Spectacular miles per gallon round trip:
(100 + 20) / 2 = 60 mpg or
(100 + 30) / 2 = 65 mpg
Do you know what elevation you started and ended at? You can easily Google this.
And thanks for your opinion on driving up hills.
We lived in rural Georgia at the beginning of the ā80s. All young men seemed to have to have full sized pickups lifted a foot in the air with huge tires. It looked like a convention of Monster Trucks in town on weekends.
Big pickups! Uniquely American and Canadian. I doubt there is any other place in the world for comparison.
Gas goes up, not so many big rigs bought. Gas price comes down, trucks get bigger and get bought. Gas goes up again.
I feel like most of us are being played for suckers.
How about the trip back? Going mostly up hill. What driving mode going down hill? Normal, Slippery, Eco? Did you use Low for any stretches?
I drove down a mountain recently in NC and GA from about 4,100 to 1,900 ft. Not really a mountain by Western US and Canadian standards. There were a lot of...
Charlotte is not exactly rural America. One of the pictures above has a Japanese or Chinese license plate. You sure these trucks are running all over Charlotte?
Agreed but iām not a techie guy. My oil change monitor recommends changing at about 10,300 mi.
Also, thanks for giving us your background. You know of what you speak, or something like that. Yours is the best advice i have seen about oil changes for the Mav Hybrid so far
I am about to pass...
