  1. Talk me into or out of the Maverick--getting cold feet

Sounds like an suv would suit you better….
  2. Why the ecoboost?

AWD, followed by 4k tow. But really AWD. I’d much prefer the hybrid.
  3. Has anyone tried OpenPilot on the Maverick?

Have you discussed the hybrid in the Comma Discord? If not, you probably should.
  4. Has anyone tried OpenPilot on the Maverick?

Better question is where can you get the software that is safe to use with a hybrid. But the mount itself, comma has the STL in their git. Print it in something like nylon and use VHB to mount it. https://github.com/commaai/neo/blob/master/case/comma3/8_degree_c3_mount.stl
  5. My Beauty Destroyed Today

I can only imagine how long it would take to get parts, too... Definitely agree that a new one is the way to go.
  6. My Beauty Destroyed Today

I've never had a problem getting claims paid in the short term, but after an accident that left me with a herniated disc, getting medical coverage extended past the 1yr mark was a hassle. My lawyer took care of it, but it was a hassle. Some doctors went unpaid for a while too. Lovely system we...
  7. My Beauty Destroyed Today

    Sounds like a good plan!
  8. My Beauty Destroyed Today

You'd be amazed at how sh!tty insurance companies can be. I've had to fight them before over an accident, it was a real pain in the back... I won the dispute, but it was a massive hassle. But you're probably also right that a statement so close to the accident would be read in relative terms...
  9. My Beauty Destroyed Today

I’m glad eveeyone is mostly OK, sorry to hear about the doggo. Good reminder to securely crate your pups… The other guy was right, fault doesn’t matter, you making clear statements could be used to deny payment for medical for your wife. Welcome to America. Insurance companies suck. And I’d be...
  10. Another Lug Nut post, with a twist

Depending on the model, the factory tires are not what I’d call solid tires lol.
  11. Has anyone tried OpenPilot on the Maverick?

Fair enough, that's good to hear. One fork maintainer took down the hybrid fork, he said he wants people to fork it and fingerprint it themselves so they hold their own liability, which seems fair. It's super simple to do. And yes 100% agree, always pay attention and be ready to take over at...
  12. Has anyone tried OpenPilot on the Maverick?

Talking with some devs, the hybrid is moderately unsafe currently. There is a checksum problem comma can’t solve and it randomly disconnects? It'd be pretty cool if you could solve the checksum issues @ChrisW. I'm sure it's fixable with enough time thrown at it. Ecoboost runs like a top, I’ve...
  13. Just used iron remover on new Mav (70 miles), was a little shocked

Yeah I can take a picture when I wash next. It's mostly on the bumper, front of hood / first few inches of hood, and front of fenders. Some higher up on the hood too. I think I'm doing a whole-hood/fender/bumper wrap next time. $2K and no damage for life.
  14. Has anyone tried Comma 3X with Maverick + Copilot 360 assist

comma REALLY needs to make this clear vs 100% bury it: you have to have an Ecoboost. There is a bug with hybrid checksums and they don’t have a fix and aren’t putting resources into it. Another thing everyone should be aware of: this is alpha level software sold as a dev kit. You need some...
  15. Just used iron remover on new Mav (70 miles), was a little shocked

The Maverick has such soft and chip prone paint, PPF seems extremely smart if you want it to stay looking good. I regret not doing it at day 1. By 1k it had a number of chips, and it’s now covered in chips after 20k, and I’m very careful to not tailgate or follow trucks, and the PNW is generally...
  16. Most waterproof hard tonneau

I have a Gator FX3 (made by BAK IIRC?) and it leaks a little up front, and a little down the rails. We're talking a VERY small amount, but it's enough that I put luggage in a tub for transport during the wet season (and being I'm in the PNW....thats a lot of the year). The tub also makes...
  17. Quick poll - did you pay cash or financed your Mav?

July 2022: Financed, $500 down [deposit], 60mo. @1.9% (locked fall 2021). At that low of a rate it didn't make sense to put money down. Not to mention it basically never makes sense to put money down, as gap insurance doesn't cover -your interest- it just covers the loan.
  18. Has anyone tried OpenPilot on the Maverick?

Yeah their site and manual is a little confusing. It clearly says development product only on the first page, but also tells you its plug and play. So while it says dev product for developers, the *other* content makes you think its always seamless and plug and play... Little misleading, but...
