I didnât even imply that the Maverick is superior. You may be thinking that they are comparable because theyâre both unibody vehicles?
Last year about this time, Ford released a video featuring one of the designers for the Maverick. He emphasized that they were designing it as a truck. It was...
other hybrids trucks will almost certainly be developed, but not at the Maverick hybrid price point. Even Ford seemingly doesnât want to sell very many of them.
They donât want to cannibalise their more profitable truck lines.
Or, when Ford quit selling some of their cars, they probably started coming up short on their federal total flee mpg requirement. Based on the rest of what theyâre selling, they were able to estimate how many Maverick hybrids it...
Hybrids may not be constrained by parts unavailability, but by product mix. They want to keep a 40/60 mix (or whatever it is) to either 1) get more profit from more EBâs, or 2) hit a target for total fleet mpg, or 3) both.
In other words, they could build more hybrids, but they donât want or...
Thatâs what Toyota has been thinking for quite a while. Batteries are expensive, with their materials in short supply. Those materials go a lot further in making hybrids than EVâs. You can cut the fuel consumption in half for 100 vehicles, or have zero gas consumption for one pickup truck...
I think they have the high-end eco boosts subsidizing the hybrids. Thatâs why they need to sell more EBâs â to cover that subsidy.
Thanks, Lariat Lux guys!
I donât expect any significant exhaust issues here in central California. My â02 Ranger exhaust was still solid after 20 years, but maybe that was better steel.
I think the dealerâs 5 hours was a good faith effort (albeit likely exaggerated), and now the ball is in your court. If you canât be bothered to find the leak, then get an air freshener and live with it.
