I do care where the money goes, but like you say I don't think the "brand" matters so much as the domestic parts content and the place of assembly, and in that respect the Santa Cruz wins as its has quite high domestic parts with the engine and transmission made in the US and the car assembled...
Of course its also bad news for people who didn't get their order in, it means that chances are 2023 will be taken up just filling 2022 orders, so they'll have to wait until 2024, lol!
The public is buying every Maverick and Santa Cruz that hits the dealer floor within a week. Average Santa Cruz is sold at a $1500 or so markup.
The only thing we can really compare right now is production capacity, as both are selling as fast as they can make them. Ford wins on numbers...
If 2023 Santa Cruz gets some changes like the turbo offered in base SE trim (like they have in Canada) without dealer add-on fees, I'd probably go with that. Ditto if they change the base engine from the 2.5 to the 1.6T Hybrid to match the Maverick.
I'm also curious to see pricing and ease...
Worse than unnecessary, a hinderance IMO reducing ground clearance and because they are so close to the body of the vehicle many will try to step over them and get dirt on their calves from the boards.
I like a red that makes the taillights, that are rather huge in comparison to the bed on the Maverick, blend in. The pepper red has enough orange in it, that it actually makes the tail lights contrast even more to the eye IMO.
The Rapid Red does a much better job of that and should have just...
Just saw this bumped thread, but wanted to comment that on my review of the Maverick Lariat at the Houston autoshow had the same problem, and the car show and press vehicles are supposed to be ones that have been gone over with a fine-toothed comb to be perfect.
Ironically though it was the...
Zero chance. If this were body on frame, its less of an undertaking, but with a unibody it'd be practically a new vehicle.
Perhaps in a mid-cycle refresh though they could do something clever like give it a passthrough cabin. This has been done on multiple vehicles before and really adds to...
Not so sure I agree about the Frontier and GTI though, particularly with what they've done with the GTI interior where everything is gloss black capacitive touch in combination with being buried in menus. C&D said the same though and gave it a 10/10 score implying its literally perfect without...
BlakesCars2 found that both his Mavericks have the same issue w/ passenger door rattle, that he believes to be a simple design defect/oversight. "This is a great way to avoid going to the dealer to have that annoying "rattle" fixed, to inevitability just get the door panel replaced with one...
Spoiler: Driving.Ca picks the Maverick, but shows some pros and cons to each machine under harsh winter conditions that are interesting. Also not the first time I've heard that retractable hard tonneaus like those that come standard on many trims of the Santa Cruz lock up in the extreme cold...
I'd take a fully loaded Fiat Toro 4x4 Diesel at $36K first. 50mpg and the interior layout is pretty sweet. The 180hp turbo gas version starts at $22K: https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/forum/threads/2022-ram-1000-fiat-toro-maverick-competitor-but-not-yet-available-in-north-america.1861/...
You're not really supposed to do it with any vehicle, as they have little filters that can get messed up. So that applies to Ecoboost too.
Speaking of fuel spray, this has actually happened to me and I was so embarrassed. So this was on a old Impala SS I was borrowing, a 95, and the tank was...
MSRP, watch them be scalped for $70K.
My posts usually get deleted by the mods if I include the word that sounds like "Ronsumer Ceports", but their latest issue actually has a "best alternatives" list regarding popular vehicles that have a very similar competitor that has a much lower average...
