  1. DIY pop-up camper build part 3: Folding wall system

Interesting concept. I’m waiting to see what you’re planning for the top. I built a similar camper for an El Camino many years ago. Set up/tear down in rainy weather proved to be a problem.
  2. Wife's unable to put into gear after starting the vehicle, despite depression of the brake pedal. I don't have that problem. What might she be doing

I see I can make that happen if I try turning the knob then press the brake without letting go of the knob.
  3. 12v outlet time out

The time-out appears to vary among vehicles. Mine is about 90 min. if the battery is fully charged. But if just used in town, the BCM appears to not charge the battery fully. First the Auto Start/Stop will not be working, giving the message the it doesn't work because vehicle is charging...
  4. I bet very few have been down this memory lane.

The Subaru Baja had a real back seat and 4 doors, unlike the Brat.
  5. Best Overlanding Rig Hands Down

Do you plan to sleep standing up, or are you very short? :):) Very nice build.
  6. Auto start/stop hasn't been working

I've observed the loss of the Auto Stop is accompanied by the loss of availability of 12V from the power outlet when the key is turned off which I want at times on my EB. An 80 mile trip out of town brings the 12V back for a day or two until the battery partially discharges again, but more is...
  7. Sporty tire options?

I was looking for a tire with good wet weather traction and occasional snow and the Cross Climate caught my attention because of the name. Looking around, I found Firestone WeatherGrip was rated similarly at a much better price. What surprised me, was how much more sporty the feel was, almost...
  8. Maverick XL AWD problems?

Remember that what you read here is an accumulation of problems reported on 250,000 Mavericks, not on any one Maverick
  9. Electrical crimp connections

I'd think your experience is more reliable than an internet report (probably as good as the medical/legal advise you can get on the net)--what was the quality of the solder on the joint that came loose?
  10. Hybrid Maverick: Speed vs Fuel Economy -- My Recorded Data & Chart

If you don't realize how much cold weather affects your mpg, reset the trip odo to see what you get for the first 5-10 miles on a cold morning. An EB Escape that I had before my Mav that usually showed upper 20s on the instaneous mpg indication once I'm up to speed on a level road will show...
  11. You asked, WE answered! Granger February ONLY special on Ford ESP! -- @ Dealer Cost

Does the truck have to be delivered to get this started. I've got the VIN, it's suppossed to be here in the next 2 weeks, but if not......?
  12. Installed a hitch mounted winch

Pulling on the center of a chain stretched between the anchors will produce a much higher load on the anchors than what you're pulling. Better to mount a plate to the floor and pull on that.
  13. Has anyone used a rear mount tow hitch snowplow?

Having built and used a similar plow on a SUV many years ago, I can offer some insight. 1. I don't think this is what Ford had in mind when they said "no snowplows". 2. The load is properly transferred to the body sturcture through the trailer hitch which can handle the loads associated with a...
  14. Can someone explain the DRL lighting for 2024 XLT?

The DRLs are lower wattage white lights, not the parking lights, intended to provide increased visibility of your vehicle. Originally, the DRLs were the headlights on lower voltage. Today, some have seperate bulbs for the DRLs. Not having my Mav. yet, I don't know what they have. DRLs are...
  15. Why No Keypad?

The battery on the old keypad from 12 years ago is replaceable, but you have to pry the case apart to do so. I have done it but don’t know if the new one is the same.
  16. Rear locker engaged at 60mph

Even if this were a true mechanical locker with no unlock mechanism, there would be little problem out on the highway with no sharp turns where differential action is needed. In town would be different.
  17. Velocity Blue Hybrid on a Lewis and Clark Adventure (21 day, 7,200 miles)

Wish I could repeat your trip when my Mav. arrives. So many places to go, so little time! But I must make one observation: "Sexton--a person who looks after a church and churchyard, sometimes acting as bell-ringer and formerly as a gravedigger." Probably was teaching him to use a sextant, more...
  18. Boonedox outfitter (BDX-OF)

Looks like it might have an excessive overhang due to the shorter bed. You might need to shorten it or use something like the bed extender from Harbor Freight to support the back.
  19. Told you.. Mavericks like each other's company!

Ranger wasn't a mid-size until the 2015's came out. Before that, it was a compact truck and yes, the Maverick is a perfect replacement for my 2011 Ranger.
  20. Had to post this, but counter a statement

" Umm…”cater to younger urban customers”? Didn't Ford say something like that in some of their introductory publicity?
