  1. Flat Towing Maverick

Still hard to beat a 12v charge wire to a lighter receptacle under the left dash area! Gotta say I really like the Ready Brute mechanical brake system. NOTHING inside the car needs done to tow ( just the Ford stuff to put it in neutral tow). You clip one cable to the yoke on the front of the...
  2. Warning: EcoBoost Maverick cannot be flat-towed

Well, that sounds good. Would certainly be handy. But just adds another "thing" to go bad sitting around. Which is just another thing to maintain considering the wheel bearings, braking systems, lights, appearance that all need attention on dollies and trailers.
  3. Warning: EcoBoost Maverick cannot be flat-towed

Hmmm.....surge brake tow dollies can be backed up? Not the ones I have towed with!!! There is a pin you have to put in the hitch to "LOCK" the surge brake out to back up on about any trailer/dolly with surge braking. I have towed with dolly, flat trailer, enclosed trailer, and flat towing...
  4. Does a flat-towed hybrid accumulate odometer miles?

From those who actually own and flat tow their Maverick ( me and BradnChristine for instance) the answer is.... NO! The Maverick does NOT accumulate mileage while in flat tow. I would have over 10,000 miles on mine if it did. It has about 5K on it now. None of my previous toads accumulated...
  5. Maverick Hybrid Roadmaster base plate install?

I will let Don11 tell you why he went with the crossbar style... I went with it because it raises the towbar connection point a LOT! I have to run a drop hitch on my motorhome to keep the towbar within the 2" level difference Ready Brute states is required. So, when I switched to the...
  6. Low MPG displayed on short trips in Hybrid

My hybrid gets about 33 or 34 on local drives. LOTS of stop signs and lights, slow traffic. Yet I average about 37-38 mpg per tank driving around the home area. That is because I sometimes drive several miles on local roads that I get 43-44 mpg on ( true "urban" driving). I have adjusted my mpg...
  7. Hybrid alternator

Well, "charging" can be a more broad statement than just how the Maverick charges its LV battery. In your case you assume the battery isn't getting current to it to maintain a full charge voltage rating (12.8 VDC after sitting a bit). But it can be as simple as your battery has a bad cell. Or...
  8. Hybrid alternator

I don't think there is ANY issue with how the LV 12V battery is being charged. As long as the electrical connections are not broken ( serious issue in first run of Mavericks) the system charges the low voltage battery just fine. There is an issue with it discharging in some Mavericks when...
  9. Maverick as an RV towed

The Ascent was one that Blue Ox recommended to me after my base plate failure. They...hesitated at that but said it had 2" longer arms on the towbar. Which honestly doesn't change the angle of the bars much. But it would be in the right direction! So, a picture would really be good when you can...
  10. Maverick as an RV towed

Which Blue Ox towbar are you using? I would love to see a picture of the maverick hooked to the RV where you can see the towbar well.
  11. Blue Ox Base Plate Failure! Public Service Announcement

I believe....the Demco comes standard with the Blue Ox style connections. Double check that with a call to them, or someone with a Demco here may chime in.
  12. Flat Towing Maverick

There are lights that have a bluetooth dongle that plugs into the coach 4 pin outlet. That communicates with magnetic/some sort of stick on lighting at rear of toad. Problem with these is how long the battery lasts, and in my opinion how far apart the lights actually are. I often go well over...
  13. Flat Towing Maverick

There are several threads on this forum alone that have MUCH detail on flat towing your Maverick! Look down through this section and you will find them. Note the one labeled "Public Service announcement-Blue Ox failure". I wrote that. Do NOT install a Blue Ox baseplate!!! Seems the Demco...
  14. Ford didn't cancel my 2024 order

The "Dealer installed" keypad really cannot be compared to the earlier "factory INSTALLED" keypad. I have owned both over the years. The dealer installed version is simply a battery operated remote. You can install it anywhere on the vehicle. Looks like an add on, because it is. I don't recall...
  15. bnsf tracking

    Uuuhhhmmmm.....yes. It did then....
  16. How to disable TPMS?

I will give one good reason why TPMS are not the Holy Grail. Part of my driving pre trip is looking at my tires. Not just to see if one is low ( you develop a sense for how they look when properly inflated) but to visually inspect them for a nail, tread defect developing, or any obvious defect...
  17. Demco base plate with NSA Ready Brute Elite II tow bar system: 24 Ford Maverick Hybrid

I have the Roadmaster installed now. Very similar to the Demco in how you will mount the front part of the surge brake. They want that mounted as close to center as possible. Problem is....there isn't much room to make a nice curve in the cable due to the louvers and stuff behind it. I made a...
  18. NSA ReadyBrute Elite II tow bar cover

That is the one I bought for the Blue Ox towbar. Nice enough cover....BUT.... I think you will find it too small for the Ready Brute Elite II. It is 27" x 8" where the link I posted has one that is 31.5" x 10.6". Even the larger one has little "extra" room.
  19. Does anyone know which is the best base plate for flat towing?

The Demco certainly LOOKS like it is more benign! But in fact just having a crossbar in front of the radiator......could still be a cause of warrant denial. Not saying it will, but I also don't think Ford is going to go out of their way to deny a warranty claim for overheating with the louvers...
  20. NSA ReadyBrute Elite II tow bar cover

I bought an off brand one off Amazon. Biggest I could find. Works just fine. Already faded some, but I do like the plastic snap buckle to fasten it compared to the velcro others have...
