Maybe the bright side is that it's somewhat protective of front end components e. g. ball joint, knuckles, tires, by 1not putting force at extreme angles? I'd rather leave that judgement up to me though.
Tow mode increases compression braking on hills. use it to tow of course but if you want more engine braking on steep descents then just dial in Towing as desired.
I just put the tailgate in the mid-position and lay my 52cm bike in the bed. No straps. If something drastic enough happens to yeet the bike, it'll probably be the least of my problems.
