yup. kingpin instead of ball joint. i had a Rambler that both fell off (actually they hang on w some strut above it). they shake violently first. i'd try to get home, each time i got to within a half block of my house (different sides) and they let loose.
i'm also 74. i remember cars with the little doors under the dash one could open for an unimpeded mph jet of fresh air. Hopefully there was a screen somewhere or an entire bird might hit your legs.
FWIW i have a Gator roll-up. It's very affordable and secure. It rolls all the way to the end of the bed for more access unlike a tri-fold. one can't drive more than a low speed with any part of a tonneau partly open so i don't see the advantage other than a slightly "cleaner" look (less sag)...
decades ago here in PA i had a Rabbit diesel. We were having an especially cold night forecast so i propped a plugged in clothes iron up against the bottom of the oil pan. It worked. Never felt the need to do that again lol.
my wife won't either so if i need to be "rescued" w my bicycle, it'll be in her Mazda CX-50. She's still traumatized after attempting to drive my 2015 GMC Sierra. She's 5'.
looks like a kid's toy. i'm barely a shade tree mechanic but i replaced rear pads on either my Toyota or Honda, i forget, some years ago and discovered the piston needed to be rotated as it was pushed. i didn't need any special tool.
