As a tech-head, I can certainly understand why people choose fancier trims with all the gadgets. But I also really enjoy functional simplicity over flashy gizmos--which is why I bought an XL. So far, I am really enjoying my truck.
I'm not a fan of stickers, so I'd be OK with them being easy to remove with a pressure washer.
But I appreciate the frustration of those who like the stickers. If Ford is going to put them on, they should damn well make sure they are properly attached.
More than one! Several generations of engineers have worked for decades to make cars safer by adding things like airbags, crumple zones, etc.--incentivized by increasingly stringent safety regulations. Amazing how much abuse a modern vehicle can take while still protecting its occupants.
Not even a broken window! Looks like the crumple zones were effective in keeping the passenger compartment intact.
While I hate seeing smashed trucks, it's reassuring that they are keeping occupants safe.
The tailpipe will stay with the body if you lift the truck.
Shielding heat sources will be your best bet. Maybe drive it hard, put it on a lift, and then locate hot things with an infrared thermometer.
Good to see another hybrid truck being developed, but the Ridgeline is really in a different segment. The Maverick is small and affordable, while the Ridgeline is large and expensive. Both are terrific vehicles, but not direct competitors.
Sounds like Ford didn't add a code for, "the catalytic converter is melting into a useless glob, while threatening to catch the truck on fire." ;)
I sure hope that they figure this out ASAP. There are frequently glitches with new vehicles, but this one is more worrisome than some.
EVs are awesome. So much fun to drive--and inexpensive to own. The only downside is range, which isn't really an issue most time. I'm looking forward to the day when I can trade in my hybrid Maverick for a plug-in hybrid. Or maybe something like the BMW i3, which has a compact gas generator for...
I drive an electric car most of the time, so I'm used to unusual EV sounds. And, of course, I'm used to ICE sounds. Putting both engine types together makes for some amusing noises for sure!
I bought one from my dealer in Colorado, and their pricing was in line with Flood Ford--which is well-known for offering good prices. Ford Extended Warranty - Geniune Ford ESP Sales (floodfordesp.com)
Crazy what "used" cars are selling for these days!
If you want to pay that much, then do it. If you can wait until summer to place a new order, and 3-8 months (guessing!) for delivery, then you'll save a fair bit of money.
I think many people want to see how a vehicle handles before putting down money. So I figure that a high-mileage demo has zillions of high-intensity short tripsāwhich would be pretty much the exact opposite of what Ford recommends. But, again, many people donāt worry about this, and I have never...
As someone who believes that break-in periods matter, I would not be eager to buy a demo model thatās been hammered by test drivers. Unless, of course, I intended to sell it within the warranty period.
That said, I know that many people donāt think that the break-in period is actually...
For me, one of the joys of buying an inexpensive small truck is the inexpensive part. While I could have added all of the fancy expensive bits, and still paid in cash, I got almost everything that I wantedāand I still have the difference in my bank account. The only thing I didnāt get was cruise...
