It is abundantly clear from the complete lack of consensus here, the only way we are going to find out for sure if the Maverick will creep…is to see for ourselves. Now if Ford will only get our damn trucks made and delivered!
Yep, you called it.
From the manual: Hybrid Battery Systems: We recommend the following actions for your vehicle: • When storing your vehicle for greater than 30 days the state of charge should be approximately 50%. Additionally we recommend disconnecting the 12V battery which will reduce...
I'm also thinking I read somewhere that long term storage was bad for the battery as well. Without taking certain precautions. Of course I guess we should assume they would do so.
Looks like some of these early built hybrids are gonna be just sitting around for a couple of months. Isn't that supposed to be a bad idea?
Fantastic to finally get a genuine official statement, though!
My dealer (Huntersville Ford, NC) asked for a $1000 refundable deposit, but when pressed, admitted it wasn’t required. Paid it anyway, as I was certain about the purchase. Perhaps that bought me the priority 10 they assigned me…for all the good it did. Still not scheduled.
Ah, "Creep". That's the word that wouldn't come to me when I needed it. Thanks for the the first hand info. Looks like I may get the "traditional" experience after all. Fine with it either way, but I'm kinda glad I won't have to tinker with 40+ years of conditioned response.
Yep that's pretty much what I expected. The thought had occurred they might have the electric motor simulate a sort of "traditional" experience. Thanks!
I have never driven a hybrid vehicle before, and I was wondering if there is any motion initiated when you place the transmission in gear and let off the brakes. Or, must you press the pedal for the vehicle to move at all? Assuming the ICE is off at the time, of course. Just curious, as when I...
A little hard to tell if you're on a perfectly level road sometimes, so I suppose it's possible these reviews may be a bit misleading. But I see Car And Driver's written review shows an estimated 7.8 second 0-60 time for the hybrid. Given their established credibility, I'm definitely leaning...
My sentiments exactly. Back in the day I owned a ‘72 Maverick 302 that oddly enough turned in an 8.7 second 0-60……and it would be lucky to get 13 mpg! I thought it was plenty fast, and would have laughed at the notion you could ever get that performance…and 40+mpg to boot. Man, sign me up! 👍🏻
Boredom aside, that was a pretty slick idea. In the absence of hard data, make the best of what you've got.
I might add that Ford uses a slightly tweaked version of the Escape electric motor in the Maverick. So if your observation holds up, that 0-30 claim might actually be just barely true.
Interesting, I guess we both rode the exact same learning curve. With all that power, it was basically impossible to put the Mustang through it's paces without ending up with a glove box full of speeding tickets...which made the car ultimately unsatisfying to drive.
I replaced the Mustang...
Yeah I guess it's all about what one can and can't live without. My first new car was an '88 Mustang 5.0, and I think it was around the six second figure. Definitely had that "push" into the driver's seat, but after enjoying the kick for a while, I found myself just settling into the commuter...
I haven't seen a test drive video yet, but I've seen several apparently credible reports that Ford says the hybrid Mav turns in an 8.5 or 8.6 0-60 time, which seems reasonable to me.
Like others, and not being the least bit familiar with hybrid technology, I had some concerns about the...
