Well Vinny, your wrong, I had the facts from day one (for what was public information). But since you want to jump in here, this started out as a comparison to the time period when the vehicle manufacturers advertised inflated MPG figures, and if enough of us complained about the (in MHO)...
Snowflakes are helping me learn. If they don't agree with you or with the facts you're wrong, and rude. I will try not to contribute anymore as facts and common sense seem to send you into a tailspin. It helps me understand why ford put the fuse box in upside down.
Lack of patients with people that don't understand my theories. But at least I wasn't wrong...
And I was asking sincerely on why you thought what I wrote was rude. I had teachers that always made you look up the answer, because you find other stuff in the process, and that might help you or...
Yes, I installed an Autowbrake controller today on the truck, but haven't taken the trailer for a test drive yet.
I installed the controller on the truck so now it can tow any trailer with elect brakes and have them function. (they market it as a trailer mount).
The point I am trying to make is...
Oh and speaking of convoluted, it also says you can't exceed your GVWR of your truck with the added trailer unless you have brakes. So that means every truck is different and most have lower towing capacity then the 1500 lbs if you dont have brakes.
Why am I rude? Because I used your question to prove the whole process of answering a simple question, "How much weight can I tow", is unnecessarily convoluted?
Or because I made you look up the answer, even know you couldn't find it? Did you lean anything in the process?
It is on page 270 in...
I know I can count on you to represent me in court after a crash or for any warranty issues.
(We all know what will happen, but I think this site should concentrate on what is the correct way, and leave it up to the owners to knowingly exceed Ford's limits if they choose)
I understand. But I think it was like when the manufacturers would claim high MPGs that were basically unachievable unless you lived in Kansas in the summer. After lawsuits, the MPG is now a conservative, attainable figure.
I read the sales brochures and expected a honest 1500 lb load...
See the pics of the portable scales. The ones with the blocked view are the left side, ie: LF-1150 lbs, RF-1100 lbs, LR-790 lbs, RR-800 lbs for a total of 3,840 lbs, and a GVWR of 5,200 lbs which indicates a load capacity of 1,360 lbs!!!
Where did the 1,500 lbs go??? Better call Saul
Note...
I am going with the Autowbrake and installing behind the bumper on the left side. Using power from the bed 12v. Should be really easy. Hardest is mounting the 7 pin plug.
GPSMan,
Can you show the ScanGauge you use, where you bought it, benefits, any negatives, mounting, etc (maybe start a new post on it, or a post on what you did to make the 3k package).
Roger that, it is something I wouldn't have hesitated to do on an older vehicle. All the computer stuff and marginal wiring capacity scares me. Maybe after I have owned it a month or two and I see everyone else's trucks with working parking lights.
TheV8man,
I only have 600 miles and waiting for the 1000 to tow. I have an Aliner hard side popup that was supposed to weigh 1430 lbs by sales brochure and title, but it actually weighed 2,000 EMPTY (you can't trust anyone). Do you think I will have any problems? Looking at getting a remote...
