The 2nd gen Dodge trucks were engineered when CAD was first introduced and maybe not totally accepted causing the CAD engineering to be backed up the old fashion way.
Except for the rust belt part of the country, they stand up so well I think they got the best of both engineering worlds
If your Dodge is a Cummins powered truck, there might be a drastic difference between what Dodge would like for the trucks life to be (and to sell you another truck) and the reality of people who maintain them properly, then achieving over a million miles on the old 12 valves. This is way...
I am disappointed in the Maverick's collision assist. On my wife's Toy RAV4 it will lock the brakes if you proceed from a stop and a pedestrian steps toward the vehicle and the center screen and dash all show a pic of the person or object. I read somewhere that the Maverick's collision assist...
If that D ring slides (which it looks like it does), that would equalize the load between the two points. I wish I got that one instead of the 2 separate hooks. Here is a picture of what you posted for the future when the ebay link goes dead.
I am sure it was cheaper to just punch a hole in the frame and make the customer buy an expensive hook. After all at the beginning these started at $19,999
They are listed as 5/16" but to me they are equal in size to a 1/2" hook-BIG!. I engaged it in the recovery hole and shook it around, it doesn't fall out easily.
My picture may even be actual size
I think it has been resolved. A document was posted from Ford for professional wrecker operators to use metal ends with samples shown. I purchased these from ebay, they fit nice and don't fall out easily. https://www.ebay.com/itm/164233277991
If you came out for a recovery and attempted to connect to the vehicle suspension parts, I would pass on what the manufacturer required and leave it at that. If I could substantiate that damaged was caused by not following what Ford required i.e.: front end out of alignment, or malformed...
I found it interesting on the power flow screen when descending a mountain and you would think the engine would be off, once the battery is up to max charge, the screen shows something like Engine running for braking effort, apparently it has an engine brake. Wonder if it defuels?
As you stated "we were trained to use control arms for loading and unloading if there were no tow hooks or designated tow points.", special emphasis on IF THERE WERE NO DESIGNATED TOW POINTS, exactly my point.
Over reacting? No, I might agree with over trained. I have worked in and with the...
If a professional towing company pulled my vehicle out by connecting to suspension/front end parts, the vehicle would be at the dealer ASAP for a front end alignment and if it needed any adjustments, the bill would go to the towing company for not following the explicit manufactures recovery...
You show a lot of nice pictures GPSMan but please slow down and read Ford's instructions, NO METAL ENDS. That means your inexpensive Grade 70 (hardened METAL) special end will violate Ford's restrictions and any and all damage to your vehicle's frame is on you from here on out.
Some people want...
