I decided to make the left side underneath similar to what Ford did on the right side. I made it with HDPE .100 without any drilling into the truck. I did make a small mod to the exhaust tip. Now that everything fits I could make it in two pieces instead of three. That will be another day. The...
The redline tuning struts I used were more expensive, but you only have to remove one hood hinge bolt. This means you don't have to mess with the hood alignment. Was worth the extra cost to me. And as someone else stated I use them to support the hood in the raised position. I don't have the...
Sorry, but it is aluminum and I know that because I cut the holes in it myself. Just saying it's not the problem people make it out to be. My opinion and observations from my own experience.
My mustang does the exact same flex, just checked. It's been through hundreds of cycles and 184000 miles of vibration in 18 years without issues. And my hood has a shaker hole and two heat extractor vent holes cut into it long ago. I'm not worried about it.
I did check. It's very minimal. Maybe some brands use more powerful struts. The ones I have, on the mav, do not lift the hood, rather they just hold it open. That's all I want from them. The hood won't be opening and closing that often like those going to car shows every week.
Hood struts were the first mod to my 07 mustang. I did have to replace them after fifteen years. My friend had his hood open at a car show and wind lifted the hood, the prop rod fell over the fender with the hood slamming down on it. Yep, crunched fender. I use the struts because they keep the...
This was quite the good read. Thanks. Back in the day when gas stations had buried metal tanks we always were checking them for water and rust flakes. I believe all the new tanks are non metallic.
When I finally finish my first tank and fill up I will do the simple math and get my overall mpg for that tank of gas. What gets displayed on all the short trips is just for fun. imo. My explorer and expedition never get over 18 @ 70 mph. So even 20 mpg is a win for me.
Well, yesterday I finally got my new Mav after they did the recall fix, and replacing a leaking fuel hose. However, today the camera image froze and stayed that way for 1/2 mile then the infotainment rebooted. So much for the "fix". Good thing I don't care about that camera. Got a hundred miles...
I called the dealer and they said "they replaced a hose, and now have to fill it and check tomorrow." If that doesn't work then it's getting a new tank. Dang, truck has never left the lot yet.
