  1. Another underbody cavity close out- DIY

What is Ford hiding up in there? They are protecting something from water, mud, slush. Must be there for a reason.
  2. Another underbody cavity close out- DIY

Thanks all. The panel is HDPE .100"X 24" X 36" and got at Menards. I'll be watching the exhaust temp and its effect.
  3. Another underbody cavity close out- DIY

I decided to make the left side underneath similar to what Ford did on the right side. I made it with HDPE .100 without any drilling into the truck. I did make a small mod to the exhaust tip. Now that everything fits I could make it in two pieces instead of three. That will be another day. The...
  4. Flimsy hood mounting points?

I think when the hood is open and at the 70 degree angle( or whatever the angle is) changes force or torque from the horizontal 0 degree angle.
  5. Quality Black lugs?

When I get back home next week I'll put up pics.
  6. Quality Black lugs?

I second that on the gorilla. Worth the cost. Have them on the mustang for ten years now and ten rotations plus two tire changes. Still look new.
  7. Flimsy hood mounting points?

The redline tuning struts I used were more expensive, but you only have to remove one hood hinge bolt. This means you don't have to mess with the hood alignment. Was worth the extra cost to me. And as someone else stated I use them to support the hood in the raised position. I don't have the...
  8. Flimsy hood mounting points?

Sorry, but it is aluminum and I know that because I cut the holes in it myself. Just saying it's not the problem people make it out to be. My opinion and observations from my own experience.
  9. Flimsy hood mounting points?

My mustang does the exact same flex, just checked. It's been through hundreds of cycles and 184000 miles of vibration in 18 years without issues. And my hood has a shaker hole and two heat extractor vent holes cut into it long ago. I'm not worried about it.
  10. Flimsy hood mounting points?

I did check. It's very minimal. Maybe some brands use more powerful struts. The ones I have, on the mav, do not lift the hood, rather they just hold it open. That's all I want from them. The hood won't be opening and closing that often like those going to car shows every week.
  11. Flimsy hood mounting points?

Hood struts were the first mod to my 07 mustang. I did have to replace them after fifteen years. My friend had his hood open at a car show and wind lifted the hood, the prop rod fell over the fender with the hood slamming down on it. Yep, crunched fender. I use the struts because they keep the...
  12. HYBRID Maverick Has 16.5 Gallon Tank -- tested and confirmed

This was quite the good read. Thanks. Back in the day when gas stations had buried metal tanks we always were checking them for water and rust flakes. I believe all the new tanks are non metallic.
  13. Any Word on Maverick Freebies?

All I got was my mav, but not a freebie.i take that back , I got a new fuel filler tube to tank hose, free.
  14. What's up with my MPG on the Hwy with my Hybrid?

When I finally finish my first tank and fill up I will do the simple math and get my overall mpg for that tank of gas. What gets displayed on all the short trips is just for fun. imo. My explorer and expedition never get over 18 @ 70 mph. So even 20 mpg is a win for me.
  15. Backup camera fix Recall is out now

Well, yesterday I finally got my new Mav after they did the recall fix, and replacing a leaking fuel hose. However, today the camera image froze and stayed that way for 1/2 mile then the infotainment rebooted. So much for the "fix". Good thing I don't care about that camera. Got a hundred miles...
  16. Gas fumes after fill up

Build was 10/24. They had it on the lift and showed me the hose they replaced between the filler tube and tank. All good. And she's finally mine!
  17. Gas fumes after fill up

Good news, the hose they replaced fixed the leak. I can pick up my 24 today!
  18. Gas fumes after fill up

I called the dealer and they said "they replaced a hose, and now have to fill it and check tomorrow." If that doesn't work then it's getting a new tank. Dang, truck has never left the lot yet.
  19. Reverse Beep Inside or Outside?

Why would a reverse beeper be installed on the front of a vehicle?
