It’s not “overblown” as far as I’m concerned. MY tailgate, in the opened position, is less than 1/4 inch from coming in contact with the bumper. Doesn’t appear FORD considers it “overblown” since they approved the dealer to order replacement cables.
Yes it is for me for 2 primary reasons: 1. the tailgate is not properly supporting any load in the open position. 2. When open, the tailgate is about 3/8ths of an inch from hitting the bumper.
My dealer contacted Ford engineering department; they approved ordering replacement cables. Checked a 2023 on the lot; tailgate LEVEL. Hope the replacements resolve this issue.
