  1. Unhood Insulation

I had a '56 Buick that you had to put your ear to the hood to tell if it was running. Don't remember if it had insulation on the hood or not.
  2. Headlights - Low beam "obstructions" ?

When I was a kid, my mother was driving in the rain, and I said "don't those windshield wipers going back-and-forth, back-and-forth bother you?" After a few minutes she said "Now they bother me, I can't unsee them!"
  3. Best Wireless CarPlay Adapter For the Maverick. I have tried quite a few of them already.

I bought one of these wireless carplay adapters for my Android. It works fine for maps, but I can't figure out how to access music while it is plugged in. Music defaults to Rutgers News. I have an 8 gig memory stick with music on it and the only way I can figure to access it is to unplug the...
  4. Get a dash cam!

The world would be such a perfect place if only everyone was just like us
  5. Old Newfie needs help getting into back of XLT

My Yellow Lab would stand by the back door, look up at me with those big brown eyes, and wait for me to pick him up. I miss him every day.
  6. Cracked Windshield Thanks to Carwash

The Mavericks have an aluminum hood -- light but flexible.
  7. Horn blows when passenger door opened.

Yep; I think mystery solved. If you open the door, then hit the lock button (just in front of the door handle), the horn will beep twice.
  8. Horn blows when passenger door opened.

I'll have to try tomorrow pushing the lock button as the door is opened.
  9. Horn blows when passenger door opened.

Just happened again! Backed into my friend's driveway, put in park, took foot off of brake, passenger opened his door, and the horn beeped twice. This truck has a mind of its own!
  10. Horn blows when passenger door opened.

Just to clarify; my truck does not have push-button start, just the old-fashion key start. So the outside door handles are not the touch-to-unlock type.
  11. Horn blows when passenger door opened.

Tried to reproduce it today, could not. Finicky software. . .
  12. Horn blows when passenger door opened.

I was in driver's seat; truck in park (which unlocks the doors), fob on me.
  13. Horn blows when passenger door opened.

No, it was in park first. When the horn blew I looked down to see it was in park.
  14. Horn blows when passenger door opened.

This happened twice recently; stopped truck, put in park, passenger opened their door, then the horn blew twice. I think there was a message on the dash, but it went away before I could read it. What is this telling me??
  15. Car wash fail, again

Probably very quiet -- reading 550+ pages of micro-print would take us a long time, and trying to differentiate what applies to our specific Maverick would take some effort as well.
  16. Okay, maybe there's something to this detergent thing?!?

I went on Chevron's site and they recommend their Techron for engines with over 75,000 miles and port injected (up until 2024 they were direct injection only).
  17. New Plaque

My first car was a Buick -- at 16 I was an "old man?"
  18. Dealer does not make appointments for service

Not Ford, but we used to be able to take our RAV4 to the Toyota dealer for service anytime; they changed managers and now require an appointment, which is usually a week or more away. We don't find this as convenient as before.
  19. Traded my 2000 Ranger for a brand new 2025 Maverick

Great detailed write up! My 2024 Ecoboost doesn't seem to have most of the issues you pointed out -- kinda makes me hesitant to look into a newer model. The only reason I'd think of changing is to get ACC and AWD.
  20. How to leave the auto headlight feature(turns brights on and off?

Thank You! I did not understand how that worked.
