That is a great question!
Perhaps some one here who knows when Tow Haul Mode should actually be used can answer it!
I just made my first towing run this evening 12 miles, essentially all downhill (slightly) towing a 2,000 pound trailer and garden tractor.
I used Tow Haul Mode, and I thought...
Try Normal mode for a while! I find it much easier to use and I I actually get better MPG in Normal mode.
Stick to secondary roads when you can - makes a huge difference.
Force the ICE off anytime the road hits a down slope (pull foot off accelerator rapidly and coast until electric mode takes...
If you have no use for your old battery, Please consider opening it up to see where the electrolyte fluid level is (Caution, it is sulphuric acid!).
I'd like to know if these batteries are being over-charged or under-charged? It may not be the same cause of damage between 22-24, and 25-26.
@OP,
I'm sorry to hear of your predicament!
You might consider getting Ford Customer Service involved! I know this sounds like the nuclear option, but I'm not sure you have anything to lose being a one-vehicle family.
Good luck!
I wish they would have stated the total miles on each vehicle. My 25 hybrid didn't loosen-up until it reached 4,000 miles!
I have yet to take a significant highway trip, but I think I would be hard pressed to get 40MPG IMO.
Very interesting on the 15.1 -15.2 constant charge applied voltage!
My 2025 EX hybrid 4k tow powerpoint volt meter always charges at 5.1 - 15.4 volts, mostly it sits at 15.1.
I will post an update once I have the trailer module updated.
I watched my 25XL hybrid's oil cap closely for Crema and found not a trace over a Wisconsin winter!
My minimum distance travelled per trip was 10 miles, maximum trip 30 miles. Temperatures down to -5 deg. F. I had a few trips of 2 miles or less - still no sign of condensation! FWIW
Add me to the list!
No issues here either, except for slowly dropping 12V resting voltage.
I have 2 outstanding recalls 25C69 & 26C10, Integrated park module update and trailer module reprogramming.
I need to get those done to see if I notice any improvement in 12V SOC.
I don't have the tools to see 12V SOC on my 25XL 4Ktow hybrid, But I can tell you that my Maverick also doesn't respond to ANY of the hacks that are working on 22-24 hybrids!
The charging scheme appears to be different.
The only thing in common between the two Hybrid generations that I see, are...
I'm certain that my 2025 EX 4Ktow would get worse than that on that same trip!
My hybrid is extremely sensitive to speeds above 70mph, and head-winds!
Under good conditions at 70mpH I'm seeing about 30-32 mpg!
I'm also showing 50mpg on 45mph trips on secodary roads!
I stay off the interstate...
