Yes, that's how I learned about the "flywheel clutch"! I actually posted one of those video's here.
The eCVT is awesome and it is largely responsible for the hybrid's incredible MPG.
Yeah, It'll just cost me an extra $350 per year for gas, but I will still be saving that much over my 2005 Uplander and I can live with that!
I'll also be happy if I can get the EB a few months earlier than I would have gotten the Hybrid.
Don't be concerned!
I know what an "Atkinson Cycle" engine is and that they are reliable! It's the Hybrid's "flywheel clutch" that concerns me mechanically. The wiring harness lug has been addressed I believe, and doesn't worry me in the least - easy fix.
I think you are correct!
But if I could have seen this video two months ago, I could have dispached with my first three dealers in a week, instead of six weeks. Plus, maybe he learned from his poor 2022 result!
I decided to try something different with dealer #4, after striking out with the first three.
As much as I preferred the Hybrid to the ecoboost, I finally looked at the reality of my situation.
I need a vehicle soon, my 2005 Uplander is nearing the end and I don't want to stick any cash into...
I hear you! He sounds better at 1.5X speed! BUT, if you are in need of learning how not to get screwed after waiting 12 months, Johnny's one of the good guys! I always remember how much effort he puts into keeping me from eating my 38 Special. I think he's a wonderful person!
Just to add a postscript to this thread, I cancelled my pre-order with this dealer!
After emailing my salesman a list of what I wanted to receive as verification after my order would be placed. (one "demand" was proof of COVP). The salesman wrote back and said "Ford doesn't use COVP any longer"...
You are correct! They still have it as of today and are using it as a demonstrator. I give them a great deal of credit for doing this. probably not one in a hundred dealers are holding a Maverick as a dedicated demonstrator.
I may drive down there in a week or two and check it out!
More great information! But my experience over the phone is the opposite
In person, they can find a hundred was to distract you or slide off the questions. On the phone, no distractions - just answers. The wrong answers, from my experience so far, but answers at least.
I will be calling Holiday...
I'll add them to my list! I'd be making a visit but the Maverick they have on their lot (MSRP price) is an ecoboost.
