I have had several hybrids, and by far the best thing about them is not having to fill up the gas tank so often. Pairing a hybrid with a small truck is a match made in heaven. My prediction is that this is the most important new model for Ford since the F150. It will be as significant as the...
The American market is no longer the big swinging dick on the block. We are going to have to wait, like the rest of the world is used to, because there are only enough refined REEs to go around. Even with all the global supply chain issues, I don't think we will have to wait very long.
I don't think the production problem resolves itself for at least a year. Ford are at the mercy of a supply chain that doesn't see them as first priority. I hope I am wrong, I have an order in too.
If Ford could manufacture the Mav on Fantasy Island where it was assembled by magical gnomes who worked for free... then their labor cost would be zero. Do you think they would sell the Mav for a different price?
I hope I am wrong about the supply chain. I don't think Ford ever made more than about 50k hybrids in a year and there is a lot of competition for REEs and Lithium in the automotive space. The car manufacturers are desperately trying to electrify as quickly as possible and the infrastructure...
There are a lot of geopolitical issues that have come to a head that are way beyond Ford's control. There is a slight danger that production might not recover and ordering a car and waiting, sometimes for years, will become the new normal. I certainly hope not and fingers crossed, Ford will...
I think Ford deserves a big kudos for developing a great vehicle, and it is going to take a half a year to get the production going... IFF we don't run into more rare earth element problems (and we might). Whenever I get my Mav I will be thankful, even if it is a year from now.
So... I'm planning on driving to Walmart later this afternoon... just give it to me straight, is my Mav going to be here or should I make other plans?!?
