This is probably useless information but read on if interested.
The Maverick, while based on the Escape, has a 14 inch longer wheel base than the Escape. The shared parts are mostly the suspension and a bunch of other parts that may be common to other models. So the basic unit body is...
Ya know, I regretted what I wrote after posting it. I apologize to both you and @colinl.
What I should have said is that some people just like to DIY. There is great satisfaction when you make something yourself whether it is to solve a problem or just for the enjoyment of doing it...
It's not about saving money, it's about having things the way you want them. But I guess you don't give a sh** about that.
The mud flaps I have seen are way too big. They would be fine if you had to drive through a mud bog to get from your garage to the street.
I thought the mud flaps offered were too big. I didn't need them to be 4" from the ground. So I decided to make my own. I ordered some large truck mud flaps 24" square from Amazon (link below). This stuff is flexible and is about 3 mm thick. Made cardboard templates and cut them out...
I would like to understand - what is the difference between the '25 LOBO and the other 2025 Maverick models that negates the fitment of mud flaps to the LOBO.
I know, I know, street trucks and autocross vehicles will look silly with mud flaps. (I just wanted to get that out of the way before...
Most of my trips are 25 minutes or less. Not worth it to pay for Sirius. The thing I don't like about Sirius is they play a lot of the "B" side or songs that didn't make it below 70 on the top 100. They also talk more than they used to.
I have a couple of USB drives with music that I can...
Please do not connect the Santa Cruise to the RANCHARO or the EL CAMINO. In its day the Rancharo and El Camino were cool cars......er....trucks. I had one of each., a '68 Rancharo and a '72 El Camino. Mow I have a Maverick LOBO - also cool.
I'll have to scan a picture of the Rancharo GT.
Here in Florida I thought the auto stop didn't work because of higher engine and ambient temperatures. There was no rime or reason why it wouldn't stop the engine sometimes.
I'll have to try this "two step" trick to see if it works.
On the VW GTI I had you had to go into a menu to disable...
Not exactly on topic, but Ford has been advertising their big sale event on local TV.
Interesting to note when they show the Ford line up....there's no Maverick in the picture.
Why is this?
Speculation: They can't get enough of them to sell - supply and demand?
I really like the look (and Area 51 color) of your Maverick. You have done an impressive job bringing your Mav into the "street truck world" that Ford was talking about.
Your project would make a great article for a hot rod magazine.
Thanks for posting.
Frist I checked to see if the whole truck was level. Then I checked the bumper, it has a very slight curve so my parallel trimmed 2x4 needed a couple of shims to make it level with the truck. I also checked to see that the bottom of the tail gate was level - it was.
I found it difficult to...
We had a short rain storm come through today and it brought the temperatures down below 90 so I decided to install the LOBO logo.
First step was to clean the area with grease and wax remover. Next clean the area with alcohol.
I used a trimmed 2x4 and some shims to make sure the letters would...
YOU ARE 100% correct. I don't know where the 7800 # came from - must be a senior moment.
That would have been quite an achievement to pull 7800# with only 250 hp in 14+ seconds in the 1/4.
Thanks for the correction.
