I would suggest doing the backs. They are quite simple to do and nowhere near as complicated as the fronts. It does take time to do, but that’s also because I was being super careful.
The tail lights are super simple and I would highly recommend doing those to save some money. The headlights take quite a bit of patience. You will need to take apart the front end of your truck to get the lights out, then bake them in the oven. To me, that’s the difficult part.
In theory, yes. Except you need to open the housing for the headlight since you don’t want to strip away the reflective portion of the light. This requires heating up the lens with a heat gun or putting it in the oven.
I can do that. Either when I get home from work or before I head into work tomorrow.
I did this last night and can tell you there’s no visible differences.
So today, I experimented with BAP'ing my headlights on my '23 XLT. I can write about my experience in a later post, but let's just say that it took longer than I expected. The result was I was only able to BAP one of my headlights, leaving one BAP'ed and the other regular. I thought this would...
As the title suggests, I have a few questions for those that BAP'ed (Used Zep on your headlights) your headlights.
- If you opened your headlights using an oven, what temperature/time did you use?
- If you used another method, what did you use and why?
I am planning on doing this mod soon, but...
Looks great! I've debated on tinting my lenses vs. going with the BAP treatment. Yours makes the tint a convincing argument.
I'd love to see the interior! I've been holding out for the Mabett grey seats. I'd love to see how yours looks with those carbon fiber inserts.
I was torn about whether to add or not add BAP. I love the exterior but wasn't a fan of the interior (I don't like the blue/black color combo). The XLT gave dark grey seats, which, made it look better.
Ultimately, I did not go with BAP simply because I liked how the standard XLT interior looked...
You bet! In Bettendorf.
Sad that they discontinued Area 51. I was kind of shocked since Ford put it on the Broncos and F-150's. Personally, I think the color works really well on the Maverick, especially with the XLT's interior. If it weren't Area 51, I probably would have done either Altas...
Took my Maverick to the local grocery store and noticed another Area 51 Maverick in the lot. It was an XLT as well, but AWD Ecoboost vs. my Hybrid. Too good not to snag a photo!
I expected them to drop/switch colors, but not drop that many and replace them with so few. Hoping that Terrain looks better in person. I loved the trendy/flat colors the Maverick offered.
Jason Heaps at Steamboat Motors in Steamboat Springs, CO, was great. By far the best experience I had in buying a new car. All the paperwork was done ahead of time. No pressure in buying dealer extras. Jason owns a Maverick (2.0 XLT with the BAP), so he knows the "craze" behind these trucks. I...
Dealer near me has gotten quite a few. I really like the heritage-only colors (light blue and yellow). They work well with the Bronco Sports!
That being said, not a fan of the F-150 Heritage colour scheme.
Picked up my 2023 Area 51 XLT Hybrid a week ago. 2k mile roundtrip, but worth it! Came with the Lux package, CP360, and sliding glass window. Photo was right at the Colorado/Wyoming border.
