  1. Washing the hybrid engine?

I'm with Scotty on this one. I don't wash my engine (anymore), I use a leaf blower and that's it. Not gonna take a chance on shorting something from water. I pretend the label says Dry Clean Only, lol.
  2. DIY interior scratch proofing using self adhesive fabric

Very well done! Also, looks like we have the same poorly fitting amazon towel set cover, lol. Fits like Cher's undies. Unfortunately, it's too late to save my Mav from interior gashes, scratches and scuffs. When I see posts like this, I think about this very appropriate video and tune...
  3. Tailgate Assist mod recommended?

No, TA is not recommended. Installation issues, malfunctions and replacement tie-down required for very little gain in function. The shock will also not last and will need replacement. Unless you really need it due to advanced age or disability, I'd skip it. Look around and you will see all...
  4. Wheel and Tire Advice

If you ever want to sell the car, would be good to have the original wheels. You can also use them for summer tires. Maybe some performance tires or AT summer. Also, you'll always have the option to switch back. I like the 17" XLT wheels too but I wouldn't part with Lariat wheels. My XL...
  5. Winter Tires for 2026 AWD Hybrid XLT Lux

I have Michelin X-ICE Snow SUV on XL steels I got from a local CL or MTC ad. Bought them over 2 years ago in Tirerack for $186. They are currently $190 per. So they have inflated in price only slightly in 2 years. Would and will buy again.
  6. Crossbar clip-on roof rack for 2025 Lariat?

Well, start with filling the knowledge gap right? Begin with the Thule and Yakima websites, etrailer, get the parts numbers, watch some videos, etc. Then piece it together cheaply from CL, FBMP, ebay. That's if you want to save money. OR buy directly from eTrailer and spend 6-$800 on a retail...
  7. Be Honest - have you ever driven with passengers in the rear seats?

Cybertruck and F-150 Lightning seemed to have flopped but Slate should do ok in the commercial space at least and there's that 15% that may want 2 door based on this survey. I'm sure Amazon affiliates will end up buying them back if they don't sell. I'd like to see Slate go to market but I'm...
  8. Oil change recommendation both Ford and consumer

First change, drop it now and then at 20% OL moving forward?
  9. Non Lobo 2025 Maverick XLT Street Build

Correct, full cloth replacement with seats pulled out and reinstalled. Blue with cream wings, full tangerine stitching. Not that hard to find this combo on Khatzin website. One big option is partial leather or vinyl in the rear. Those kits can add up if you choose leather rears. Well over...
  10. New 2025 Front End

MTC still talks all about cosmetics for the '25 front end. That piece was added to move the Headlights ($$$) out of harm's way in the event of a fender bender front end collision. It's the bull-horn replaceable piece, IMO. Instead of replacing both headlights and the whole bumper. It's ok...
  11. How do you start/warm-up a hybrid engine in extreme cold

Thanks for your contribution regarding "extreme cold" from the cold weather states of South Carolina and Texas, lol. You can both cram it. You have been ignored so don't bother Ken...
  12. How do you start/warm-up a hybrid engine in extreme cold

Thanks. In that case I may keep the HVAC on at HI temp and min fan. Basically trick it to burn more fuel and realize some minimal cabin heat. I do agree about using Sport mode or Tow/haul. I want the system to burn fuel when I'm at low speeds and short distances.
  13. How do you start/warm-up a hybrid engine in extreme cold

Thanks for your input, I'll do it my way. I can see the engine Temp gauge drop as soon as I turn the heat on. It's as clear as day to me so I keep it off. Speeds and temps are low in my area. One the highway it heats right up, no issue.
  14. How do you start/warm-up a hybrid engine in extreme cold

How do I warm up the ICE? I don't use the cabin heat at all unless the Temp needle has moved well above minimum AND I'm on a 10+ minute drive. I don't use cabin heat for short drives. I want my engine to last. Gloves, hats and coats are cheap, engines are expensive. I let the ICE warm up...
  15. Potentially Dangerous High Engine Rev

Yup. You can't just keep your foot off the brake and coast if the engine needs to warm up. Sometimes it can be very wonky and jerky if your are giving no input. Just use the brakes or accelerator. Some torque does get translated but not enough to overpower the slightest amount of braking or...
  16. Mave's first snow. Very happy with Maverick Tremor!

My XLT wheelset was removed yesterday for the XL steel wheels and X-ice snow tires. I am cleaning the alloys currently before storage. The FWD does ok, but I imagine a Tremor with snow tires would be completely unstoppable. I was short-sighted and thought the Tremor was unaffordable. It's...
  17. Maverick has highest truck customer satisfaction (Consumer Reports score)

Reporting in at 1037 days and 41,743 miles of Maverick satisfaction!:)
  18. Awesome trucklet

It's a nice option to have a 2nd or 3rd car. In VA, my taxes on your 3-car fleet would be over $2,000.00 annually without driving a single mile. It's a $1000 a year minimum just to park a new car. Not counting sales tax, insurance or any other increased expenses. Beyond my single car...
  19. Awesome trucklet

Head scratcher that a 2024 model is only getting a 5,000 mile update. I've got a 2023 with 41,000 miles, lol. This example must have been hiding under a rock. I think we're in the minority liking the Conti tires. They ride quiet. I actually might get them again for summer driving.
  20. Joining the new tire club

Appears you live next to some of the biggest mountains in the U.S. with endless terrain and deserts after that. Plenty of places to enjoy an A/T tire. East coast, we just get a little snow/ice and have a few hills, lol. It's flat compared to the So Cal mountains but certainly a lot of dirt...
