Same here⦠I know most folks take their vehicles in for service nowadays, but as long as I can Iāll keep doing my own too. Hope this is helpful to other weekend mechanics like us. š
FYI - I just did a search on that splash shield part number and see that a very similar one is apparently used on the Ford Escape that already has an access for the drain plug. Someone is selling that whole assembly on E-bay for around $95.
I doubt that the Hybrid locations are the same, but Iām hoping that at least the Ecoboost FWD / AWD are both the same.
This is the Ford part number stamped into the splash shield on my XLT Ecoboost with FWD. If yours is the same you might be OK but I would definitely take your own measurements...
No⦠not in it for the money. Weāre all in it together so Iām just happy to share with this group. Would appreciate any feedback from others to know if they work on the other models though.
You might want to check out your local library to see if they offer 3D printing services if you donāt have...
Yes⦠itās in the link. Itās on this photo which may be a little hard to see. I tried using different colors for the labels but red was about the best I could come up with.
Good question. I used PLA (Polylactic acid) filament for the first set which is definitely not recommended. I donāt see any evidence of road wear (chipping or cracking), and the tongue groves & latches held the covers on fine, but you could see that the parts were already starting to warp a...
I agree! Thatās why I went to the trouble. Did something similar on my Ford Fusion using a metal slide track before I really got into 3D printing.
The dimensions for the cutouts are all shown on the Thingiverse link in my post.
So... I did the first oil change on my 2022 XLT Ecoboost 2.0L FWD at 4900mi. Been waiting for the moment to try out the 3D printed access covers I made for the underbody splash shield.
The following photo's show the location of the oil drain plug and filter access holes I cut into the bottom...
How about an access cover for the oil drain plug & filter on the 2.0 Ecoboost?
Mine is still a work in progress⦠thanks @Ford Motor Company for giving us a nice flat surface to work with (Not!). š
I have to update the 3D printer model to fix some holes before posting the files. Working on the...
Thanks for the fuse info⦠Iāll make a note in my manual.
My truck has been off all day so out of curiosity, I just went and verified the auxiliary power to the bed was off.
I then tried using remote start through FordPass and discovered that the 12v power was NOT available with the truck...
Curious about others
knowledge/experience with power to the DIY auxiliary 12v Flexbed wiringā¦
On my XLT 2.0EB with key start (no push button), I have to toggle the key to ACC or ON to initiate auxiliary power to the back. It doesnāt seem to be integrated with the rooftop bed light switch in...
Nice work to both of you⦠thanks for sharing!
I guess Iām on the same wavelength as @psuarmy having gone with the under-rail NiLight strip lights and ordering a second cubby from Ford for the drivers side.
I have the factory drop in bed liner instead of a spray in, so I had to notch some...
The baby is here! After going almost a full term to 9 months, I finally got to drive her home tonight. Loving every minute so far.
The only real surprise when I took delivery was the lack of a manual rear sliding window. I was on the fence when I ordered last November as to whether I...
Does anybody know how to track the ālast mileā truck transport once the rail car reaches its final intermodal distribution hub?
Iāve been following my XLT up from Hermisillo since it was built 7/1. Itās been making great progress so far, sitting in Kansas City at the moment. I believe the rail...
Nice! A September hybrid with at least two constraints⦠there is hope. I didnāt get the April 13 e-mail from Ford and didnāt hear anything from my dealer so I contacted Ford customer service this week and learned that my November EcoBoost XLT CP360 was assigned a VIN and scheduled for build the...
Thanks for the initial post on this OP. After dropping the factory SIBL at my dealers request, Iāve been trying to decide which way to go next. Actually, the thought of scuffing up my $390 Alto paint job to get the goo to stick was giving me second thoughts anyway.
Reading through all the...
Received the basic "Thanks again... we've run into a few delays" e-mail at 11:40pm EDT last night. So thankful to Ford for finally sending us something to let us know we're still in the system. Hope this much appreciated type of communication continues.
