If I wanted to occasionally beach ride in soft sand I’d pick something taller than a maverick with a live rear axle. Big, soft tires on a ranger / Colorado or bigger. I love the maverick but I don’t see it doing that well in 10” ruts with no lift or tire upfits.

Costco has a decent deal on a set of 4 winter tires thru the end of August. One of the offerings was Firestone Destination A/T2. You may be able to find a set of steelies an XL owner is selling on eBay or Craig’s list and get them mounted for winter use.
