Of course you can ask questions, without the other posts before me and those who went in blind to tackle speaker replacements before me are a big reason I decided to do this.
So to the question of these specific components, yes, you can definitely replace just these and it will be a sure upgrade...
I got my first chance today to see what she could do in the snow (AWD 2.0 XL)ā¦. Drove through a fresh foot of (wet) snow in normal mode, got stuck, switched into slippery and worked itself out of being stuck without much issue and was able to trudge all the way throughā¦. Iām pretty impressed...
Hmmm, I wonder if the connection point where those two clip together, if something is looseā¦. Iād take it in and tell the dealership about the rate and see if they have any remedies (other than the actual clips, thereās no much back there other than the airbag)
One other thing I noticed when back behind the climate control, thereās a 2nd wiring harness plug and this white cable to the left. Iām wondering if thereās a way to tap into that harness, etc for a sub (and then maybe use forscan to enable the signal, etc)
If you already have rattles, would be a perfect opportunity to add some sound deadening to the inside of that plastic š. Iām using some acoustic foam as well, thinking about covering the whole back behind the seat in some spray on sound deadening, but still in the infant stages of research on...
I also used the red and black looms - pic is passenger side where I ran the speaker wiring. I hadnāt work with these before (just used plastic tubing in the past). Pretty interesting the way these work and how you you can adjust how thick/tight they are around the wireās
UPDATE: installed the door speakers Friday, did the drivers door first and then wasnāt careful enough on the passenger side and broke some wiring harness clips - be careful!!
The foam on the powerbass 6.5 speaker is too thick and you wonāt be able to clip the door panel all the way back in...
Guarantee dealerships arenāt cancelling the canceled orders and instead either selling it to someone on the waiting list or marking up for dealer stock. The reply above brings up a good point about the refunded deposit tho (if there was one)
The 4x6s will need to be retrofitted, but theyāll work
4ā are the actual stock speaker size (youāll still likely need some sort of adaptor or stock fitting retrograde because of the way they mount directly into the plastic/c column
I love how many Maverick owners seem to be putting in a system (or just overall Audio upgrades) that havenāt had or out a nice system in a vehicle for 20 yearsā¦. Seems Ford really nailed the whole DIY vehicle concept
following! Looking forward to seeing how it turns out
after playing around...
Only other ones Iāve seen in NH so far besides mine (ox white) were the one I test drove (shadow black) and the charcoal grey one I went to put a deposit on that another guy already claimed minutes after I got off the phone with the internet rep scheduling my test drive - he and I picked ours up...
Tweeters installedā¦. went with those first because as I started to take apart the door, realized I could tackle the tweeters without a single screw needing to be removed. These things are as close to plug and play as youāll find right now. Takes a little finagling to get it to clip back into...
To add onto this, in regards to most cheap LOCs, youāre likely better off just using old school rca line converters on some quality speaker wire (and then running the remote tapping the fuse box). Now if youāre going an LCA that has multiple outs that a different story, but for a single channelā¦.
This is me exactlyā¦. I think the last system I put in a car was ā01ā¦. Everything Iāve had since either already had one put in it prior to my buying or the factory was good enough for me (as was the case with my ā16 highlander and Camry SE)
Will be doing my first install in over 20 years this weekend
As many different builds I put in the configuration, I donāt remember those having an upcharge, then again I donāt understand why anyone would pay that add on cost for thoseā¦.
