On the rear speakers, they appear to be on a common ground which makes using them for the signal tricky. (You also usually want to tap the largest speaker in the stock system, because they’re least likely to have signal processing to cut out the bass)…
I really didn’t want to use t taps, but...
Working on this has made me want to do more…. Kind of woke up the kid in me that used to install systems back in the 90s (and customs in general, not just audio)…. So much so I’m now thinking about ordering a 2nd XL (this time with 4K tow and in a different color) todo different things with than...
Do you have a link to the loopback harness? I wonder if it’s one of the ones I found that I thought might work (I found a t harness and a loopback harness that seemed like possible solutions)
The Morels are a great choice…. I almost went with those exact components and 4”s but what kept me from it is the tweeter shape (I really wanted to keep the tweeters in the factory location).
As for “do I need?”, that’s subjective…. You could probably get away with no amp or sub, but it depends...
Do it from your driveway (may need to be connected to your home WiFi)…. There’s a setting in the radio where you can run it manually (there should also be an auto update setting but that needs wiring connection to updat - I had to manually run the last one
I just checked, and my auto update...
I went with the plug and play component set from powerbass…. The tweeters come with a perfect fit wiring harness and the tweeters are almost an exact match (minor editing, finagling to work them into factory spot)…
I’m now on a hunt for other options and how to acquire the same wiring harness…...
so did you only need a single part number (other than bolts and what not)? I really want this on my XL as well and just want to be clear on it. Thx in advance
Deeeeefinitey too many choices…. When I found this one I searched and searched to see if anybody had talked about it (only found one post from a vendor that mentioned it but didn’t actually talk about it). That then took me on a trip going back through every option available just to make sure I...
Try tonneau covered…. They sent me an email with an offer for $899 (I personally wouldn’t pay full price, but I like $899 (especially cuz I have no sales tax). I went ahead and ordered it and will figure out what to do with the gator once I’m there
But yeah I tried the 15% as well and didn’t...
Awesome! Glad it worked out and seeing how easy it was to link it up makes me want to get back on the hunt (for a used one) after having 5 separate orders on the other cheap one from that mega thread cancelled
This is actually part of why I got excited when I ended up with an XL instead of ordering a lariat. It’s made me want to try to custom my way to as close to a lariat as possible the DIY way. I haven’t really done much to my cars in the last decade and upgrading the maverick has become my...
Anybody know anything about this particular model from xtang?
I’m currently waiting on a gator soft tri fold, but I originally wanted a seemless hard fold.
AutoAnything currently has it for $999 and you can get a 10% off code sent to your email. $899 seems like a solid deal (but I’d be...
Heck yeah let them do it, there’s zero chance I’d live with those rattles on a brand new vehicle (or one under warranty for that matter)
the rear one, you’re talking that light rattle noise not that big kuhchunk sound near the end, right?
Power I ran through the firewall to the battery…. There’s easy access to a rubber grommet that you can just drill a hole sight it smaller than your lead wire and shove it through. For the audio feeds I tapped behind the climate controls (backside of the wiring harness coming out of the head...
I don’t know about the Sony ones but focal makes direct plug and play as well (where the tweeters will fit into the stock brackets) but the few reviews I could find didn’t seem like they were worth almost 3x the cost of the powerbass ones...
